tigressA Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 A cute guy IMed me on OKCupid last night. We had a nice conversation and he asked me out for dinner on Thursday. We exchanged numbers and he called, we talked for some time on the phone and that went well. When I answered his initial IM, he said he didn't think I would answer him. I teasingly asked why and he said I looked "too good" for him. Then a little while after I agreed to the date he asked me if I was kidding. Uh... He seems like a good conversationalist and he asked me a lot of questions. He just came off rather insecure at those times. I know this sounds judgmental, but I also noticed that he listed his income and it's rather high (most profiles I've seen don't have theirs listed) and he has a picture of his car, which looks...sporty. Expensive. I'm wondering if he might be the flashy, insecure type to throw money around to try to impress, which isn't my type at all. I'm not impressed by dollar signs. So...what color is this flag?

I'm going to go out with him, have fun, and keep an eye out for other blatant displays of insecurity. Usually this kind of thing really turns me off a guy. (I mean really, why say those sorts of things? It just makes you look sad.) But I actually thought of D-Lish's thread about that text exchange with her BF that almost made her reject him, so I figured..."What the hell...I'll give him a chance."

I went on a date with a girl that gave me that same insecure vibe before we met up. She made it a point that I should not show up late or she'd be really upset, she told me she thinks she is never going to get married, etc. etc. I just thought she was nervous and shy, so I went ahead with the date and she was even more insecure in person. I would have gone for a second date because other than that she was fun, but she disappeared. Moral of the story: stop messing around and come to NYC

I admit that was a test. I did date an insecure (and inexperienced) guy for awhile. He put me on a pedestal and needless to say, it didn't go too well. I tend to lose respect for that type...I'll see if this incident was just a one-time thing.

Hilarious. Most of the guys that I know that own a yellow car are insecure. I don't know why, but that's the case. If it begins to irritate you more you can always cut it short.

Blue is cool (my car is blue), red isn't too bad, green is nice, I could even deal with orange because you don't see too many orange cars and it looks kinda cool (think orange Acura NSX.. hot!!) But yellow is the insecure attention whore color. It just is..

I don't think my answers are that different, other than a few questions on relationships. I guess your answers could depend upon what kind of mood you are in.
