I love music and I believe there is a song that fits just about every moment of our lives,

Even when we have heard the song before and paid it little attention and then something happens and the same song we just heard all of a sudden we are now listening to and it is saying precisely what you’re feeling.

I love Gladys Knight, have since I was a kid, but all of a sudden, I now truly relate to her and her songs.

I do not know anything about her life, but her songs say she must have been an OW at some time in her life, I don’t know but it seems that way to me.

So I am hoping some of you will share songs that have to do with the moment of your life right now and that goes for anyone, OW/OM, FOW/FOM, BS, WS, etc.

Here is mine: (and it really does not say anything about an A, but it just fits “my moment”, due to V-day coming and that is my xMM's birthday and I miss him)

ps it was not on youtube so I hope this works.

BTW ... it worked.

What a great song, and beautiful voicy and lyrics...

I would be curious to hear more songs about Affairs, Missing Someone, loving someone etc...

This I know already ----so did you have a point here?

You missed something being so fast on the trigger.... to take a shot at me you did not notice I said .... he is MY XMM !!

Now he may still be telling his W lies, but it won’t be me this year :p

Or maybe he has a new OW... and maybe he will lie to both of them, but what he does or does not do, does not dictate my feelings.... thank gwad !!!

So do you have a song? Back to the original topic, gosh, 2nd post and already a TJ. How Rude!

It is a great song!!

I have thousands of them... and lived half of them :D

But I have lived by this theory:

I love-- love and heartbreak the same... you have to know both to know one

And what better way to do that, with the exception of RL, than music and thru music you can test it out before you dive all the way in. ;)

Hopefully we will get lots of song titles, but if not I will share mine and you are welcome to share yours!

Funny, cuz my daughter listens to her and I'm not a fan, but this song...

Silly, I know.

There is never anything silly if you like it and it speaks to you IMO.

I like it too !:p

I especially like these two because the pain is expressed so eloquently but yet.......there is a strength there especially at the end of the 1st one,

is more about having strength a little bit at a time, but none the less having it.

If you don't care for country, you probably want to skip. :)

I dig both of them !!!

Oh Oh Oh... I love music and I have sooooo many but this one is special because it's where I got my ID from:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMUY2ie9Cu8

But this one.... This one has been the one that spoke to me early on.

Then finally... the one that screams AFFAIR:

I am really into music and all kinds of music has spoken to me in these last 2 years. I love this thread and look forward to seeing all the songs posted.

Very early on after discovering, when I was VERY filled with hurt and anger towards both my H and his fOW, this had fairly heavy rotation in my playlist: Violet, by Hole

And during the times when I was really really down about myself, there was another song that really got to me...

Bit of a backstory. My H and I had a very romantic beginning to our relationship.. love letters, bad sappy poetry and all that. But yet the A made me feel so worthless that I spent a good amount of time just after d-day wondering if perhaps he never truly loved me and I was nothing more than an obstacle between him and real love with the OW. So I used to listen to this to hurt myself even more. Pathetic, huh?

ummm, actually no...he will be with me as he is each year. The same as when he spent the whole day of his birthday last year with me and lots of other special days and holidays away together

Sorry I like to listen to music but not really into who sings them or remember what the name of the song is.

I've wanted to write a book for several years about my life and the A.

In addition to the book, I thought it would be interesting to include a

song list that relates to the A. I am a long time connoisseur of country

music and oldies/classic R&B. This listing of songs is primarily country

and includes both sides of the fence. I figured some of you would enjoy

looking these up and listening, especially if you haven't heard them

before.

((((((hugs pure))))))

My xMM's Bday is Valentine’s Day.

I remember one year (before the A, we were friends for 12 years first) we were riding around at working and he got a call to come to his office, and he started that way and I said, "maybe you should drop me off at my office, your W may have come with a surprise cake for your Bday/Valentines and you could see the HOPE in his eyes that just maybe I was right, maybe she did surprise him. She did not and never has. (So I know that would be a lie)

He was very disappointed when that was not the case; it was just a work related call. I never did that again, I could not take the pain in his eyes or his words.

I always told him I was glad he was in the world on his Bday and I am still glad he is in the world and I had the opportunity to be with him and know him, no matter how short lived it was. So of course he is with his wife on his Bday/Valentines day, that does not mean anything to me and my feelings for him, I still miss him. I liked him as well as loved him and if being with his wife is where he wants to be and he is happy, then so am I.

I do appreciate your heart !!!

No T/J intended but I remember some times ago I started a thread about affairs in Arts (Music/Movies/Books) :

Thanks for sharing, I thought about all the movies tooo !!! :)

Speaking of songs, I had to take all the songs off my Ipod that I listened too during my affair. Something about music really triggers memories, and I can't handle it well at all. Once in a while I'll accidently hear a song that reminds me, and it's like a stab in the heart. I hate it.

I know hou you feel all too well. During my 6 week period of attempted NC/ending the A for the umpteenth time, I couldn't listen to the radio AT ALL!!! Every song was songs that he has sent me either by email or given me by way of CD's... It was torture. Unlike the daily torture I go thru now knowing he sleeps with his wife :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

You do know that Gladys Knight didn't write all her songs? Motown had a stable of writers and because one sings about it doesn't mean they were participants. I don't know if she was or was not, but basing an assumption on a song.....well. Love Glady by the way. :)

Half a Heart, everytime I see your name it has reminded me of a song from a few years back by Jennifer Hanson and I wondered if you got your name from it. She was a country singer, never had any big success and I think now concentrates on writing instead of performing.

Anyway....I looked for the song on youtube but couldn't find her version of it but did find someone else doing it and this lady does it pretty dang good. Take a listen to it

To sum it up, this lady goes to the bathroom and she notices the same tattoo on someone else as she has and they start talking and guess who has the other half and well there are a lotta of other girls out there that have the same half a heart tattoo also.

It ends with ladies make sure the guy you are with doesn't have a half of a heart tattoo.

I had the same thoughts and gave up all music except for classical or jazz, NO Words!! Then those songs started having meaning...ugh

When you can start to relate to elevator music, you may have hit rock bottom. :bunny:

But then I started to think, the whole A was not full of bad stuff, so why was I making it out to be, and now I can hear SOME of the songs and smile and remember how good I felt at the time.

Also I wanted to control my feelings for the A and not believe that everything I went through had nothing positive to be learned from it, so some of the songs took on a different meaning to me as well.

I also realized if I kept avoiding all of the song, memoires, pain, I could never never never start to heal any part of myself, so I decided to “face the music” as they say and my world is a better place for it.

I said I really don't know anything about her life, but I love the way she can convey feeling with her voice that come across as "have been there" , weather she wrote the words or not, she sang them like she knew the pain of them and I like that about her.

I guess that’s what makes her a true musical genius.
