tigressA Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Today I noticed two guys I had previously dated re-joined OKC. They had popped up in my random matches. One thing jumped out at me, and that was their listed age. They lied! One of them is turning 29 this year, and he has his age listed as 26--even more of a kicker is that he has the last two digits of his birth year as part of his username. Like people won't figure that out. The other one is 28 and listed himself as 30. I don't understand why some people would do this. The truth is bound to come out eventually, right?
SmileFace Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 There is this one guy who will message me on both my Okc and Pof accounts when they were active. On OkC he was listed as 32 . On PoF he was listed as 36. His profile stated he was 29 and when I asked him his age he told me 26. I don't understand why he did this . Yet I have seen many people do this "shrugs"
Author tigressA Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 The "26-yr-old" guy and I are still friends, so I'm thinking of just shooting him a message like "Congrats on turning back the clock; I think getting your PhD. will rank second to that accomplishment since no other has done it ." I wonder if some people who lie about their age do it so they don't look so creepy trying to get younger girls/guys. Do you think lying about one's age right in the profile is a red flag?
Author tigressA Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 I'm 23...and yes, I have that in my OKC profile too. Why?
johan Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I'm 23...and yes, I have that in my OKC profile too. Why? I'm 23, too. Amazing coincidence.
Citizen Erased Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I'm 23, too. Amazing coincidence. Liar. You're not even 21, you got us kicked out of a bar for being underage.
Author tigressA Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 I'm 23, too. Amazing coincidence. :lmao: -------- I'm thinking I dodged bullets with these guys. If I went out with someone and found out they lied about their age, I wouldn't go out with them again. I would find myself questioning their every word and action. Apparently many people fail to take that consequence into consideration...or perhaps they just don't care, which is an even bigger red flag.
johan Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Liar. You're not even 21, you got us kicked out of a bar for being underage. At least my id was a decent fake. Yours was full of misspellings. Eye colour?
Crimson and Clover Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I used to lie about my age...when I was like 12 and trying to impress cute teenage boys, or get into a R movie
USMCHokie Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Now the question is...does it actually work...?
Feelin Frisky Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I never lie about my age. I just don't volunteer it.
somedude81 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I've lied about my age because I didn't want girls many years younger than me to know how old I really am. I have a feeling that girls might get a little creeped out when they find out that the guy hitting on them is ten years older than they are. BTW, I'm talking about college age girls 18-23. Though mostly I just do what Frisky does.

Though mostly I just do what Frisky does. Wow this is just so wrong. I had this happen to me on a dating site. The guy had his age as 33 or something. At the time I was 39, and I said to him sorry I think you're a little young for me. He then replied back that he was actually 41, and does that make a difference. I said no, I don't take well to people who lie. He then went on about how his female friend "advised" him to lower his age on there, and that "everybody does it". What a loser. To lie about something like that just said to me he will lie about anything.
Star Gazer Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 TA, maybe they lied to YOU about their age? Not on their profile?
Author tigressA Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 (edited) TA, maybe they lied to YOU about their age? Not on their profile? Nope. If there had been a chance of that then I wouldn't have posted this thread. And even if that could have been the case, they'd still be lying and therefore generally untrustworthy. Either way, I dodged bullets. Edited January 29, 2011 by tigressA
