Rosebud3 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 So what are you giving your SO for Valentines....will it be in person or sent to them? Any gift ideas as well...
aerogurl87 Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 My boyfriend and I are on a strict budget at the moment since I'm moving to be with him soon. So I'm going to make a video on youtube and send it to him as a present. We'll be seeing each other before Valentine's Day and I'm making him a gift basket, so I guess that can be considered part 1 of my gift to him, lol.
Citizen Erased Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 The same thing I've always given for Valentines Day: sweet, sweet nothing.
Cathster Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 Probably nothing. It's Valentine's day, our anniversary and his birthday all in one week so he's just getting a surprise visit from me, some DVDs and a soppy card.
folieadeux Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 A "soppy" (love that word!) card and a shirt. We won't be spending it in person, but I'll be there the following weekend for a week and will be exchanging then and going out for a belated dinner.
SomeGirl Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Dunno Last year I didn't give him anything which definitely makes me want to do even more this year (he gave me the sweetest teddy with chocolate truffles last year) his bday is also this Thursday so we will see. I've already gotten the first half of his bday gift specially ordered I think I will give him a gift certificate for a store he really likes and also help pay off a Godin guitar he has been making payments on for some time now. I <3 him
Faded_x Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I don't really like giving/getting expensive or extravagant gifts on Valentine's Day. I think it should be more about small sentimental things. Personally, I like making sweets and giving them as a gift. I think it just makes it a bit more personal than a store-bought box of chocolates or something. So it's something small and cheap (important to me, as I don't really have any money the majority of the time), but still was made personally so I think it means more.
folieadeux Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 You guys look so adorable!! When will you be ending your distance and did your last trip go well? I am buying this dirty sexy piece of lingerie that I know he will go gaga over. He seems to get a lot out of me wearing lingerie. But we're talking about going to the sex store again, so we may save our money for that. The last time we went was hilarious because he is is SOOO SHY about such things. You could see my poor boyfriend turn bright red when the aggressive sales girl shoved a vibrator in his face asking "Do you think she will like this?" . He couldn't even talk the whole time we were there, all he could do was nod or shake his head. My boyfriend's been trying to get me to a sex shop. I refuse to go in and tell him I'll wait in the lot.
heartbeats4u Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I will be buying my girlfriend a love card, some chocolate, and a scarf .
folieadeux Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 They are actually not too bad, but it depends on which shop you go to. Some are more "tasteful" than others, or as tasteful as it can get when a business is advertising and selling sex. In my experience the head shops, those stores that sell both sex and drug paraphernalia, are the more trashier places. And any place that has a booth that you can go into to watch porn is a no go for me. A friend of mine told me that she and a group of other people rented one of those booths for a few minutes and it was one of the dirtiest feelings she had ever felt. Plus they allow smoking in those booths and gosh knows what else. We go to the Adam and Eve stores, they are pretty nice. It is mostly toys and games, a small selection of porn and a large selection of kinky lingerie. They have the prettiest hooker heels in town. And no booths!! Like I said, my boyfriend is a very shy person, so the first sex store we went to was a small place in Ann Arbor. It is actually a safe sex store, but they sell other things. He was tense the whole time, kept his hands in his pocket, and gave me no feedback whatsoever. We didn't buy anything and I thought he didn't like it. Then weeks later he says he wants to go to another store! I talked to my girlfriends and they recommended A&E, because they said the staff there are the friendliest and most helpful. So we go, and once again boyfriend is tense, embarrassed, doesn't say a word the whole time, and yet we walk out of there with $50 worth of stuff. Now he wants to go back again!! He's always so excited when we're talking about it with each other, but once there he clams up. Thanks for the tips; I'll probably be just like your boyfriend first time I go. My SO actually showed me things from A&E so I think I'd be most comfortable with a place like that that caters to women/couples.

It was a small store, but the entire time we were in there he was so nervous and kept looking at the door like I was gonna lock him in there for all of eternity, lol. Just him, a wall full of vibrators, and the store clerk. I've never seen him run that fast towards a door.

I am currently doing the paperwork for my permanent residence to the US, it sure is a process and not cheap! But its worth it. We've been together for almost 2 years this coming March. (My mom petitioned me about 5 years ago imagine that!) He's actually coming back in March and I am soo happy to see him again; I guess that answers your second question.. hehe. Aside from us arguing a couple of times and my house getting robbed. I loved every minute of him being here. I hope things end great for us all, as this is for sure one of the hardest things in life... But so worth it.
700miles Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I think any gift is better when it has a personal touch...even if the gift is on the "cheesy" side. Because I wasn't able to visit on his birthday, I contacted a local bakery in his community. They delivered his favorite cake in the form of cupcakes. In addition, I sent a gym bag (he works out daily) with his last name embroidered on it. Now, I can be a small part of his daily workout. Inside I made a funny card that was an inside joke between us. I included several bags of pork rinds...disgusting snack, but his favorite. For Christmas, I sent him a set of beer glasses, personalized. He had told me he would like to open a sports bar one day. I put the name of it one the glasses. This showed I do listen...and support his investment goals. Hope this helps.
700miles Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 I didn't expect reciprocation...given from the heart. : )
