I usually say slept together, had sex is also acceptable, but I still tend to say 'slept together' even if no sleep was had made love is somehow icky, even though it shouldn't be, screwing is more indicative of some one night stand thing, but then f*****g can be used, depending on what kind of sex was had (that would be on the other end of the scale from the making love).

I was going over to visit my friend who was in a couple, and she wasn't piking up the phone. I asked what was going on, her guy said hey were playing chess. I like an idiot said, "oh, Can I play? I love chess". They didn't even have a chess board...
