That's right, good guys don't finish last.

People with no bounderies finish last, people who cannot set their limits with others finish last.

People with no self respect to do these things, well, they finish last.

Dont beat yourself up for not being a jerk, beat yourself up for not saying "NO" when you knew it was time for no, and remember the lesson.

Of course, if you said "NO" and it happened anyway, beat yourself up for choosing the wrong person.

Sounds like healing is going well.

Upon reflection, most of my life pain in relationships was a product of my poor boundaries, so your point is well-taken.

I did a little boundary patrol last night IRL and I must say it felt pretty good. It's possible to patrol boundaries in a positive way and retain self-respect without hurting another. Great lessons. Clear and open communication seems to be the path.

Hope things continue to get better for you. Take care :)

Good post. I had a similar reflection earlier today about an old ex and boundaries and as a result where she is now in life in comparison to me. All I can say is my life is all beer & skittles compared to hers. :)

Thanks for the insight :)

It's actually really helpful and relates to what I went through, It makes total sense, I had no sense of self respect to stop what was going on around me, I let her walk all over me time and time again and I stuck around regardless cause I felt I needed to know she cared, Not anymore, That's not good enough anymore, Nobody will ever do that to me again, This break up at least gave me strength and the will to never let myself get that caught up again.

The one thing I regret is not ending it when she started acting like she did, Instead I stuck around and it all went to hell anyway.
