Cee Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 In the last month, I have been approached by several men for dating in the most bizarre and scattershot ways. I don't know what's going on, but I went for months without a nibble and all of the sudden fish are jumping in the boat. Here are the approaches: 1) Guy hits on me in a public Yelp discussion and then later asks me out via private message. I've met him once, but never talked to him. Basically, he did a cold approach online. 2) There was a guy I did IM with from Plenty of Fish. Two long years ago. Our contact was basically chit chat for a week and then he dropped out of sight. I never met him or talked on the phone. He sends me an email last month and wants to IM me and take me on a date. 3) There's a guy on my Facebook who is a peripheral part of my network. I commented on his Facebook about a random thing & we had a thread on his wall. The thread was not romantic, just that we discovered we lived in the same town long ago. Anyway, he initiated the process for us to talk via text and IM. I'm not offended by his approach, but it was completely out of the blue. 4) A guy throws himself at me at a bar last night. We are casual acquaintances and he's an awesome guy, but this was unexpected. He seemed really into me. He gave me not one, but two business cards AND made sure he got my number.

fishtaco Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I've noticed things tend to happen in bursts. I'm a guy, I don't get hit on by women very often. I believe that's fairly normal. So I'm the one initiating usually. Even then, sometimes with a lot of effort, I'll get nothing. Then suddenly, I get a bunch of numbers. When it rains, it pours.
