I have noticed this with a few relationships. I am blonde, green eyes, tall and thin, nice body. The two guys I went out with and had a true relationship with, had all dated girls totally opposite of me (dark skin, brunettes, brown eyes). Do you think those guys still found the former attractive, or started to like my look as they fell in love/were in love? Have you ever dated someone completely opposite of your type?

Hey.

I believe that no one really has a "type". I mean, people can be more physically attracted to, for example, blonde hair or blue eyes, but that doesn't make the person.

I'm not sure if yu're talking about just physical attraction or an actual relatiionship, because a relationship depends on more than just physical attraction (though it is an important part).

Let me give you an example. I have been dating my boyfriend for about 8 months, and I love him so much. Prior to me dating him, I went out with this muscular, good-looking guy that went to my university (something that I thought I KNEW I wanted in a guy). However, despite all those qualities that I thought I wanted, I just didn't feel the chemistry. Not for any particular reason; it wasn't awkward and he was a nice guy and seemed into it, but I just wasn't excited to hang out with him so I told him.

Then I reconnected with my boyfriend (I had met him a few years ago, but saw him again at a party this past June), and that's when we started talking. When I initially met him, I never thought "WOW, this guy is so amazingly handsome", but he did stick out to me, I can even remember random things he said the first couple of times we met, don't ask why. He's in a trade, never went to University, and he's a huge goofball. I would never classify that as "my type" prior, but turns out he's absolutely perfect for me.

Sorry, that was longer than expected. But I hope you see my point.

My SO and I couldn't be more physically different from each other, so I'd like to think there's some merit to this.

My boyfriend is pretty much perfect when it comes to what I was looking for in a guy. He's romantic, goofy, tall and very slim, a little nerdy, and has the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. Plus he's got a little European blood in him as his dad is pure blooded Irish. I don't know but if I could've put the right elements in a machine to make the right guy for me, he would've came out. I'm still in awe of how lucky I got with him, especially now as I almost lost him for good not too long ago.

I'm attracted to petite blond women, usually those described as "cute" but every woman I've ever had a relationship with including my ex wife and my current SO has been brunette and fairly tall. Go figure?

Once I was admiring a very attractive cute blond lady and happened to be out with my sister at the time, she commented, "She's just the opposite of the type I thought you liked!"

Conclusion: I don't know what type I like? Or maybe I consider cute blondes as eye candy and the tall brunettes as dating material or..???

Who knows? Now I'm confused!
