Hey, I need an advice. I am presently dating with somebody on a website. We are on the phase where we can exchange our numbers but I don’t want to share my mobile number. What should I do?

Tell him you’d feel more comfortable meeting in person first. Pick a time and place for the meeting. After you meet him in person you will either want to continue or stop the relationship.

You could also do a video chat or something.

Skype, Ventrilo.

I second the suggestion of using Skype :)

Google Voice? You get a phone number and it links to your mobile. I have a Google voice number, but don't bother with it. Skype is cool too, but you need to pay a little money to make calls to mobile numbers. Skype is free though if they are computer to computer calls.

The tough part about not giving out a mobile number while online dating is in case somebody gets lost or needs to cancel. But it's fine to meet first without exchanging numbers.

Hi, this is Joanna. You know, I came into the same situation when I was not sure if the guy with whom I was dating is pervert or wannabe so I gave him my virtual number.

Its practical that u meet the person first and then decide whether u want to give out yr number or not. But wont that look rude!

What's a virtual number by the way?

I agree that not giving out your number may sound a little rude. However if you see the frequeny with which the numbers are misused I think one needs to be extra cautious. Virtual numbers are numbers provided by voip services like voxcorp.net.
