Decisions That Might Seriously Effect My Dating Potential

Ok so, lately I've floated around ideas about some changes I want to make in my life. After some thought and discussion with friends, I have a feeling its going to considerably hinder my dating potential.

Due to the economy, I lost my job last summer and had to take a minimum wage job at a game store. I am lucky to get 1 or 2 shifts a week, but that doesn't bother me. I love the job and am pretty damn good at it. Women have already asked me what I do and when I tell them, they roll their eyes and go "oh..." almost sounding disappointed that I don't have a "real" job.

My car also has finally kicked the bucket. After $400 in repairs it just does not work anymore. There's an electrical problem and I think that it would be better suited for someone who can spend the time fixing it themselves since I cannot afford the part that I need or the labor cost to fix it. So I've opted to sell the car and use the money I get and from my tax returns to buy a bike and clothing to protect me from the weather until it warms up. I can get anywhere in town on a bike in an hour, gas is too expensive, insurance is too expensive, car maintenance is too expensive. Getting a bike would almost instantly get me in better shape with all the biking I would be doing.

I've even considered getting rid of my cell phone and getting a land line, but that probably won't happen right away.

My question is, should I doubt myself on these decisions? Since my car broke down women won't even give me the time of day let alone want to go out with me. I went from dating a lot to absolutely nothing at all. I almost had a date last week but the game store job made her smug at me and walk away from the conversation. How on earth am I going to find a potential mate if I don't live up to the "standards of society"? I am just feeling ill at the thought that I will never find another girlfriend unless I own a vehicle.
