Can someone please explain why is it when I am online, that inevitably I will get IM's or emails from guys (so far) in Tunisia, America, Sweden, Switzerland, England? What do they want? Some kinky instant message anonymous sex talk or what? What's the point? Why trawl though profiles of women 1000's of miles away from you and try and make contact when they could be targeting women at least within driving distance. I don't get it.

Cee Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I suggest that you go ahead and ask them. For awhile on OKC, I would chat with guys in foreign countries. Since pen pal is an option on OKC, I noticed that some people like to shoot the breeze and not date. A couple of the guys acted like they wanted to date me, which I didn't want to do. So I changed my IM settings to allowing only local men to contact me.

Many people such as myself see the world as a small place easily traversed. If you prefer not to have contact with men such as myself (as well as the less savory keyboard masturbaters), simply identify that preference in your profile. I see such profiles all the time and move on to the next one. I recall, when I had a profile on a dating site, I got IM's and e-mails from all these wonderful young ladies who were young enough to be my daughter. Obviously, they were spammers/scammers. Duh. It's part of the reality of putting oneself out there. Good luck
