Ok. I need help. If for no other reason so that I don't make a fool of myself. There is this man that works in the same area as I do. We are not coworkers. I see him everyday I work. It started out with glances and shy smiles. A few weeks ago it started to intensify with some intense eye contact. These looks last 4-6 seconds. Seems longer. I get a burning feeling down my spine. It feels like everyone in the room must see or feel it but they seem oblivious. Then more smiles. I can't think or talk when he's near. My question is..

is it just me? Do guys just do this or is he likely to feel the same thing im feeling with this eye contact. Help!!"""

Psychologically speaking (don't take me as an authority, I only took one psych class six years ago and I got a 'C'), men and women tend to communicate differently. Women will lean in and communicate using body language and direct eye contact with those they perceive as friends. Men will not lean in and will not use direct eye contact as often during casual conversation with those they see as friends. There are exceptions, of course.

If it is appropriate in your work place to date coworkers, by all means give it a shot and ask him to go out to lunch or coffee some day. Of course, you have to weigh the risk. If you become physical or have a relationship that doesn't work, you still have to work/see this person every day and that can make things uncomfortable for both of you and any other coworkers/colleagues.
