I would suggest you shave yourself and keep it shaved for a month or so then see if your views have changed..

As a male who has shaved before I can assure you that shaving isn't a pleasant deal.. Today I use a body razor and only trim..

I've been completely shaved for much longer than that. I suggest you do a minor amount of research on things before you do them. A quick goole search will tell you how to avoid irritation and razor burn.

Yeah you're exaggerating the health risks. They're completely trivial.

So I'm exaggerating the health risks that I've personally dealt with and that my doctor advised me on. Good to know, thanks for telling me.

To answer the OP question, "cool" doesn't mean much. For one thing this idea would have to put a damper on any spontaneity. How can one be all hot in the moment and then require a pubic shave and shower? Asking a lady to "freshen up" down there is about as far as I might go. I wouldn't go so overboard as to ask her to completely shower. And hair down there is something you might discuss when you're actually in a relationship--not an instant universal requirement unless you have some kind of insane phobia.

My question is... This is a date. He made it sounds like it's a second, third or maximally fourth date. Why wouldn't the op decide to stay out of down there if hair and hygiene turn him off that much?

It would be different if OP had said, "I'm into this girl, seen her naked and would like to find a way to get her to freshen up down there. I also prefer women to be shaved". (Answer one: shower; answer two: find a way to communicate it). Instead, he's creating a problem that potentially isn't even one.

Not all women like to go bald, and not all men care. If the OP does, he does, but he's going to hit a lot of walls if he cares as much as he does about the private-scaping of casual partners.

As long as it's neatly kept (which does NOT mean totally bare to a lot of people, nor does it always---or even usually---include shaving, which is perhaps the worst way to private-scape IMO), regularly groomed, and hygeine is observed, plenty of men will be down for it.

Personally, being totally bare gives me the heebie jeebies. I need a landing strip or something. A man who's totally bare all the time would also wig me out. What are we, pre-pubescent?

Makes sense. Thanks.

I just meant this as a general question, not specifically for my upcoming date. I ask because I've been in the situation before, and I just wanted to be prepared to handle it in the future. As to why I don't just stay out of down there, I like to please the girl that I'm with by going down on her. They love it so much and I love to make them happy and feel great.

When I think of a shaved man I automatically think porn. I would find it very unmasculine if a guy was bald down there, tbh. :o

Right. Though I'd never say that your or my way was right. . . This is something that everyone thinks differently of AND places different importance on. It's personal taste, really. (I mean, not the hygeine bit. . . I suppose everyone wants a partner who washes up, just about everywhere, but the hair amount/style/whatever bit.)

That's fine. I know a lot of women agree with you. And I can tell you a lot of women prefer men to shave. Hair does not necessarily equal masculine. Its just personal preference.

Most of the people in here on right on...don't engage in something pysical if you haven't yet established enough of a relationship to discuss it. Let me ask you this though....

Are you looking to settle down soon or just hook up and hang out?

If you are looking for the right girl, wait before you make these types of requests. Don't even think about getting in her pants before you get to know whats in her head. Im telling you, as a confident/attractive/non-married woman, if a man asked me to do this I would be so embarassed and run the other way. If however, I was dating a man for a while and we started to get into the physical stuff and he told me that he has a preference, I would consider it. Same man, different way of approaching it. So, my advice would be to decide what you want in this woman first. If you can't help it and things get sexual quickly, I would do as others have mentioned....coax her into taking a shower with you. Don't tell her its because you want her to be clean down there. Make it a romantic act or part of the foreplay. But, whatever you do, don't ask her to shave. That is her own preference and unless you are in a relationship with her it would be really embarassing for her to be asked that.

Thanks for the advise. I'm looking for a long term relationship. But as I'm looking for the right girl, I may enjoy hooking up with the girls I date.

What you say makes sense. That's how my last LTR started shaving. We had been together for a while, and somehow the subject came up and we decided to try shaving her. But now that I know what I like, I would try to bring it up a lot sooner. But like you said, I should probably wait at least a little while.

I personally think she'd be very offended if you two got into the bedroom and were kissing and things were leading places and you were like "I like my women to shower and shave before I do anything further with them. A towel, wash cloth, soap and a razor are laid out in my bathroom. I will here waiting!" It just seems rude and like you think that women are uncapable of having clean vaginas and that vaginas are somehow 'dirty. Not all women like to be bald down there, some just trim. It's HER preference.

I personally would love to always shower before sex because then I am the least self conscience but my boyfriend never has asked me to. I only do if I get the chance to. I also like to shave all of my pubic hair off but it's a personal preference I decided on years ago.

Gotcha Izz. Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with you. I actually think you are rather brave for posting that in a public forum where you are bound to get criticism. Bottom line: Everyone has preferences. Try being open minded. As long as a woman has good hygeine, try not to worry about the grooming! See where that takes you :) Good luck with your endeavors and simply, just wait a bit before you bring something like that up. If a you truly love a woman and she loves you, I am sure that she wont mind the shaving aspect, but if she does, just focus on the fact that she has good hygiene! Theres more to a woman than her "carpet." haha

How the hell do you know how sexually experienced I am?

I actually was quiet promiscuous in my past, masturbate daily, and know how to have fun in bed.

And yes, guy friends and hook ups in the past HAVE told me about their experiences with " smaller vaginas". I have talked at length about vaginas with a few guys, so I was simply stating what I have heard.

Posted
Leigh, you really have no idea what you are talking about.

I have been with my fair share of guys, and I have gotten brazilians for 5 years now - and I have talked about vaginas with a few men before.

Personally, I think it is disgusting if women does not keep her vagina clean. There ARE exceptions - such as if the women has an infection and is nto aware of how bad it smells.

There is nothing wrong with wanting a women you like to keep her vagina smelling good, and there is something wrong with people who think it is rude to not want to give oral sex to a vagina that smells off - putting.

I would not give a blow job to a guy if their smell repulsed me. I would not make myself do something that was unpleasant.

WHY should a guy have to FORCE himself to go down on a women who smells bad?

A historical note from an "older woman":

When I was a young woman, having a shaved girly area was considered an interesting kink. It was unusual and special. Pubic hair was completely normal and accepted by everybody.

How did this move towards everybody shaving come to pass?

There really is a one-word answer but I have to type a little bit more to get the post to be accepted. The one-word answer is:

Porn.

TYPO - I meant to say " smelly " not " smaller" vaginas.

Oh - and by the way - I do not think having some hair down there makes in un hygienic- a very hair women wlho uses propper soap ( natural, nothing to harsh of course!) and washed their vagina properley before oral, could smell total fine; where as a waxed women could smell bad if they did not wash and had a bad diet.

There probably would be a correlation to the women who DO wax - you see, women who wav in general, are probably aware enough of their vaginas for them to clean them well.

Of course, that is not to say that a lot of hairy women are Un clean - although I higher % of women who wax may be more focused on the state of their vaginas, and perhaps be more likely to be strict with things like showering being letting a guy give them oral.

I started waxing at about 17 or 18, and at around the same time that I started experiemting with waxing, I also started to be more interested in how to keep my vagina clean.

I do not think a women would go to the trouble of getting regular brazilians, and be ignorant about their hygiene.

Of course, plenty of hairy women would be very clean too. I was just highlighting the connection that could be due to women getting brazilians, and being more conscious about their vaginas in general.
