Hi

Just curious.

In your opinion, what are the best books you have read about male and female communication. Seems like "Men are From Mars...." was one of the first/earlier ones that got a lot of play. I am thinking more recent and progressive, not that that was a bad book or anything. Not at all.

This is one that has helped me again and again!

"Taking the War Out of Words"

I bought a book on body language once. I find that fascinating. And love to look at other couples to figure out who wants whom and so on.

And it comes in handy. Guy I thought liked me, he had all the body language right, but then, when he didn't want me any more, it was amazing how his body language changed.

I won't say it is an exact science, but sometimes it's easy to look at a guy's feet rather than listening to what he says. If they are pointing towards the door, you are in trouble...:)

Hey PB!

yeah I like to look at body language too, in both genders. I find it fascinating as well. You can usually tell a lot by what is happening...or not happening, lol.

I'm not sure regarding books on communication.

Some are helpful, or rather most are. But...the thing that worries me slightly is that it generalises men and women. And in many cases that is helpful.

But...you can screw things up even further by not treating each interaction individually and applying what you 'should do' on say, a date, rather than dealing with the actual person in front of you as the unique person they are.

Agreed, lol.

It is so easy for me to have "aha" moments and totally see using what I read in the real world. Lots of it makes sense, I nod my little head and say "oh yeah" that sounds useful. Then it reality, sometimes the opportunity or situation does not present itself, or call for that, etc. Like I said, easy to be enlightened at home in my bed curled up with latest book, it's putting it into action at the right time that is hard.

The Tao of Dating. There's one for men and one for women. I recommend both to those looking for a quality LTR, beginning with the one for your gender (i.e. if your a woman, read the Tao of Dating for Women first, but check out the other too). The same guy recommends an excellent marriage/LTR book that he didn't write, but I forget the name. I believe he mentions it in the 'Dating' books.

Hey thanks Zen.

I hear that is a good book, good to hear another endorsement on it!

I have ZEN and the Art of Intimacy and some other buddhist natured books laying around which I never quite get to. I peek, and read a little, then forget I have them around. I should pick them back up now that I am getting so much more out of Buddhism lately. Eager to check out Tao.

thanks:)
