exoduse22 Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I am 16 and I have always walked in a way that I am slouching. I am trying to fix my posture both in walking and standing, but having a real hard time to. Anyone have any tips that helped you guys fix your postures if you guys had any posture problems before?? I am scared I'll become a hunchback so I really think I got to fix this habit of mine ASAP and it is also I think affecting my social life because I do not look as approachable as standing straight which makes one look more confident.

But seriously though, there are a few things you can do to improve your posture. First, pull your shoulders back, like you are trying to squeeze your shoulder blades together. This will naturally bring your chest out and forward. Let your arms hang naturally by your side (they may even hang a little behind your body, which is perfectly fine). Next, raise your chin up. This will bring your eyes up and forward, instead of always looking downward. Finally, try to always maintain a nice lumbar curve in your lower back. It will feel very weird at first, but you will get used to it. You can also practice sitting like this as well.

Pilates and yoga are not "gay" at all...I have been seriously considering starting up some of the bikram yoga stuff...just have to find the time, which doesn't seem to exist at the moment...
