Jannah
I am 1/2 a geek. I totally dig Quentin Tarantino's work, but certain aspects of his movie do make me a little queasy. His films are so eccentric and his movie dialogues encompass every aspect of emotion within the movie, a lot of which focus around retribution. Kick as* good!
murah989
A true Quentin Tarantino date will have sex with you first, and end the night by saying hello.
Els
Meh, geeks don't all share similar preferences either. I'm not a huge fan of QT either. He's okay, but overrated IMO.

zengirl
...and a TRUE geek girl....is if she can stand sitting through a Quentin Tarantino flick on a first date without getting naseated. I didn't know QT movies were considered geeky. I mean, I guess I am geeky (I always say nerdy, because to me geeks are nerds that aren't smart, but I understand others use the two words interchangably), and I do like pretty much all of them. My BF and I watched Inglorious Basterds on our first 'stay in and cook' date, which was like our fifth date. (I brought it over. My job was the movie and the wine; he did the grocery shopping.) We made out through almost the whole thing---we'd both already seen it---but I think my favorite part was when we both broke into laughter, mid-kiss, because of the "You know, fightin' in a basement offers a lot of difficulties. Number one being, you're fightin' in a basement!" line. I remember him saying, "I'm so glad you were still listening to the movie, too!" because he was all worried and couldn't stop himself from listening/laughing. It was cute. Els
Bite your tongue missy. Naw, sorry. Watched Inglorious Basterds with the bf, wasn't reeeallly my type, just sorta okay. I don't see how it's a 'geek' genre either. I figured typical 'geeks' would be more into Inception, Matrix, that sort of thing.

I'm your typical geek girl - studied computing at college, work in the software business, enjoy video games and sci-fi - I loved Inception, Matrix, etc, but wouldn't really be interested in a QT flick at all. Alma Mobley
I didn't know QT was 'geeky.' I was into him back when Reservoir Dogs came out and would make people watch it. Had no idea he would get this big. And yes, I am dating myself.
Author irc333
Well, maybe QT is not a GREAT example....I was trying to draw a comparison to Rob Zombie flick and other Horror flix. EVERY Geek girl I've ever known were fans of some kind of "slasher" flick. The typical addage is to never to take a woman on a first date to such a movie, however, you could probably get a way with it with a geek girl. QT did have a Zombie type movie, the Grind House (or was that Rodriguez?) I think my point is, there is a certain type of woman that can sit through a movie with extreme violence, usually it IS a geek girl of some sort. Eeyore79
Hmm... I have sat through gory flicks before, but didn't really like them that much. I prefer sci-fi and fantasy, or sometimes just a good old girly rom-com.
Els
With all due respect, I tend to find the majority of gory/horror films... a tad brainless. I don't think Inglorious B qualifies as gory/horror though, so that's all good.

PerpetualMotion
I don't see the connection too. I actually know a few girls that like slash/horror movies and they definitely aren't geeks (nerds, dweebs, whatever...). They say they like this kind of movies, because they find them funny. TaurusTerp
Lol Tarantino is not geeky in any way, shape, or form. Are you kidding? Pulp fiction? Kill Bill? Tarantino is like the most mainstream cool director on earth.

I'm watching Inception tonight as a matter of fact, Matrix was an awesome flick. Just watched Iron Man 2 finally, I dig it.
january2011
The cool things about Tarantino movies are not the gore and the violence. In my opinion, what makes his movies cool, are the actors (Samuel L Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Tim Roth and Harvey Keitel), their monologues and the soundtracks. I watched True Romance on a first date and we also saw Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction at some point. As an aside, that guy went on to study film at university and we parted ways. I'm quite superstitious about watching movies for a first date and would probably choose something schmaltzy like a rom-com where everyone lived happily ever after.
Els
Yes, he is very mainstream, who takes geeky things (like chambara films) and tries to make them mainstream. They become Tarantino-esque, imo. As Chan Wook Park explains, Tarantino is a "great thief... taking from things that he admires". Awesome.
