dave22 Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 A few months ago I met a girl while vacation. We hit it off right away and after I went home we started talking, emailing, texting on a regular basis. While we weren't officially dating, it was something pretty close to it. We decided that we would decide what we would do once we had a chance to meet again over New Year's. Everything was great for the first 3 months, but the last few weeks before I left to meet her, I started to have some doubts. It would be difficult for us to live closer together (I am from Canada, she is from the U.S.) without one of us quitting our job (which neither of us was prepared to do yet) and I wasn't sure if I could handle a long distance thing for too long. Well, when I finally met her it wasn't great. We had a good time, but it wasn't anything spectacular and we both realized the situation with the distance and a few other things had become much too complicated. She said she still wanted to remain friends and I agreed, but I am wondering if it would be worth it. I have always enjoyed talking to her, we have a lot of common interests and a lot to talk about. But there is the distance part which means seeing each other in person would probably be rare. If I knew this would be a great friendship I would put in the effort, but if it is something that will just fade away, I would rather end it now. She does seem genuine in her want for a friendship.
