Star Gazer Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 You know OP really needs to understand that if she wants people to be sympathetic and understanding of her issues, then starting confrontational threads that bash a certain segment of the opposite gender is a poor investment toward getting it. Now I'm seeing why she does cop some flak from other members, she creates her own problems. Yeah... 'tis true.

Now I'm seeing why she does cop some flak from other members, she creates her own problems. It's pretty comical though, isn't it? Most of us have irrational patterns that we fall right back into time and again. It's the utter stupidity of the human condition and I can relate. From a certain perspective it's all forgivable. It's also why it's also not good for her to stay here. People benefit from her shenanigans because they're entertaining, but they actually affect her real life ("she creates her own problems"). I don't want to be able to say that I had a part in something like that
OceanGirl Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 OP was genuinely curious about this LS phenomenon. This was not malicious in any way. We have discussed this issue in private and both us don't get the discrepancy of men we know in real life vs men on LS. Something doesn't add up.
carhill Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 The interesting part will be to have four (random datapoint) of those 'real - life' men sign up for LS and post their perspectives here and participate in the community for, say, one week. There's a reason why I say it's interesting and I'm looking forward to showing why. Good luck.

This was just a question I've wondered about for awhile and spoken about with some other LSers.

somedude81 Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 OP was genuinely curious about this LS phenomenon. This was not malicious in any way. We have discussed this issue in private and both us don't get the discrepancy of men we know in real life vs men on LS. Something doesn't add up. The very fact that the men you are speaking of, know you, speaks volumes about what kind of men they are. There are millions of men who don't have any female friends, they are the ones who have trouble with women. Not the guys that have female friends. The next aspect is the overall sample size. Mainly a certain type of man posts on forums, usually the geeky guy. And they are the ones who are more likely to have trouble with women. So if everybody posting on LS is a geeky guy who has trouble with women, then it's easy to mistakenly believe that all men have this trouble. Still, her OP was very rude and confrontational.
Star Gazer Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Of course, we can't do that. We don't want anyone in real life to know that we post on LS Then why do you use your face as your avatar?
hydorclops Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 This was just a question I've wondered about for awhile and spoken about with some other LSers. Your OP had no questions, just a rant about how "most people can get sex". What, you think men don't have trouble getting with women? You don't think they exist? Or people shouldn't complain about their unhappiness? You've done so much complaining here the internet is running out of electrons.
carhill Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Of course, we can't do that. We don't want anyone in real life to know that we post on LS Quite a convenient reason, isn't it? Truth be told, I've asked my male friends and they wouldn't touch this place with a ten-foot pole. Wonder why that is? The answer is in the psychology of the various people. We'll get there.
OceanGirl Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Then why do you use your face as your avatar? My current avatar doesn't show my face I figure that people that know me in real life are unlikely to visit LS. I am still taking a risk but I believe it's minimal. It's miles different then straight out telling them that I post on LS.
welikeincrowds Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Really, if you look at my thread history I rarely start confrontational threads. This was just a question I've wondered about for awhile and spoken about with some other LSers. Are you trying to front right now? Don't even front. You know very well that your posts are controversial. Being confrontational is merely one method (that you use! you're using it right now! you're fronting, stop fronting!) to create controversy.

I can't even tell if you are joking right now Must run to get my 6-monthly Botox treatment!
Star Gazer Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 My current avatar doesn't show my face It shows your face's profile, so what? 98% of the time it's your full on face AND cleavage.

I think the guys who post on LS run the gamut in terms of personality/appearance/success with women. The majority of male posters here have had some problems maintaining long-term relationships but don't necessarily have much trouble attracting members of the opposite sex.
johan Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Stop fronting, northern_sky. You should know better than to front like that. I didn't realize you were such a fronter. I remember the other day when you fronted, too. I think you were hoping everyone would think it was someone else.

Els Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 As a female, I completely disagree with the OP. Not sure if her community is just completely different and unreflective of the norm, but I'm pretty sure it isn't all that easy for men to get sex (with the exception of paying for it). I have some female friends who do the whole 'nightclub easy sex' thing, and the consensus is pretty much that any hot male is fair game. What defines 'hot' may be different for the individual - looks, flashy car, etc. It does make sense. As even a moderately attractive women, many men would be willing to have NSA sex with them. Why not pick the most attractive of the bunch? That being said, I also agree with zengirl that NSA sex is by no means a 'need'. If you truly 'need' sex to survive, well, why not just pay for it then? Just like how you do with food?

Not sure if her community is just completely different and unreflective of the norm, but I'm pretty sure it isn't all that easy for men to get sex (with the exception of paying for it). If you truly 'need' sex to survive, well, why not just pay for it then? Just like how you do with food? Yea thats a really intelligent argument. According to your logic, I can just walk a couple blocks away to find a brothel as I can do to find a McDonalds, right? Many men will go that route if its that easy and safe to do in America.
Author northern_sky Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 I have to agree with you. As far as my crowd goes, it's not all that easy for men to get sex. you also live on the west coast, where men outnumber women. It's the opposite where I live.
Star Gazer Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 you also live on the west coast, where men outnumber women. Huh? Says who? I don't live in Alaska. I was referring to the quality of people I spend time with.
