sky93 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Hi, my new years resolution is to be more friendly and aproachable so I can make more friends. I am 100% introvert, but I want to change because it is boring only having like 2 friends. A particular group of people that I want to make friends with is my tennis team. They are all nice but I can't seem to bring myself to join in their conversation. I have known them all for at least 3 years. I don't want it to seem creepy that after 3years of being isolated from them, I suddenly join in their conversation. Any tips on this?
sully737 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Do they go out together after practice or matches? If they invite you, take them up on it... If they dont, say "mind if I tag along?" Unless theyre complete monsters, theyll say sure thing. Catch up on current events, sports, movie, music... anything that you can easily contribute to a conversation... And throw in your input. Try wearing color, or a "softer" wardrobe if you dont already. These things make people seem approachable and easy to talk to. Dont be afraid to make eye contact and to laugh... And always, smile, smile, SMILE.
ShatteredReality Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Start with one. Make conversation with one of them...it will open up from there. Don't tackle the "group" yet...it's intimidating...
