dest Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Today I got a random email from someone on facebook... The subject was "were you..." and inside said, "...deeply insightful, quiet and mysterious?" What is this? Is this an attempt to flirt, befriend, harass? What? I do NOT recognize the guy who sent it, but on his profile it said he went to the same high school as I did and we have a mutual friend in common from high school. Weird. He looks like a total douche. His email is a bit annoying considering that we're in our 30s now and I have no clue who he is. Geez.
Author dest Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 I guess what bothers me the most about it was that in high school, my mom was dying of cancer, and we had just moved to that new town. I was extremely preoccupied and not focused on a fun social life like most lucky others. It was hard to focus on fun and making friends in that state of mind. I want to email that guy back and say, "Sorry to squelch your fantasy 17 years later, but my mom was dying of cancer when I moved to a brand new town. You'd be preoccupied as well. Interesting that things are never as they seem!" It irks me that the painful memories of my mom's death have to be tied to this aloof reputation as a consequence of moving to a new town while dealing with all the grief. Goshhhhhhhhh.
