dreamingoftigers Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I realized something kind of sad the other night, there are a ton of posts that were never replied to and some people were in some pretty heartwrenching situations. When you first come onto LS often you are pretty desperate. I get why some of these posts were never responded to: poor spelling, big chunks of text, posts more epic then mine. (Some are double posts, I don't bother with that or spam). For the last 3 nights I have been responding to old unreplied-to posts. Some of them have actually spawned decent threads. It would be really nice if at least one other supportive poster could give me a hand because they are pretty backlogged. Let's make LS a place where every genuine person can get an acknowledgement!
PegNosePete Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Ah, I wondered what the thread necromancy was all about Yeah I agree it's sad some people don't get a reply. But I don't think there's much point replying to 2 or 3 month old threads now. The situation is most likely resolved or changed, and the OP is not likely to be following the thread anyway.
january2010 Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 There's a 60-day limit, so we're only able to go as far back as early November anyway.
LifeIsGreat Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Some posts are just about impossible to read!! It's like they are one big sentance. I wish people would break their stories up into paragraphs that made them easier to read.
Duckduckgoose Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I have been trying to at least read a lot of posts... but the big chunks of text just make me scroll to the bottom looking for the TL:DR or maybe a recap. Its a shame that not everyone keeps up because I would like to know how a lot of situations resolve.
USMCHokie Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Here are some tips for the new members: (1) PARAGRAPHS!!! (2) A meaningful topic name...that means you should actually think about a title that is relevant and gives other members an idea of what the hell you're whining about. E.g., "What Do You Think?" doesn't mean sh*t to us... (3) You may think it's relevant, but 99% of the time, all the random crap information you provide is completely irrelevant and is just superfluous crap we have to sift through. Just get to the point.
Gold Pile Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 it seems that poster "january2010" (unless I'm mistaken)has made many short replies to no=reply posts.
carhill Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 OP, in case you're not aware, we had a thread running on your activities, which we had narrowed down to January2010, and which Tony clarified was not trolling. Interesting how little goes unnoticed on LS BTW, I did a bit of the same when I first started posting here back in '08. Hated to see people ignored. I got over it
