northern_sky Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) Didn't like most of the girls. A lot of them were predictably fake and bitchy. I liked Emily ?, the gorgeous event planner. She seemed decent and she was shy/modest, not aggressive. She didn't try to put on a front, and she let him come to her. Only concern is she seems emotionally unavailable and a bit cold. Maybe she's still not over her ex who died. But this is just my gut reaction based on the first episode. Also liked Chantal? the funeral director. She seemed genuine and sweet. Wasn't crazy about the girl he chose for first rose. I get a manipulative vibe. I didn't like what she said about how he could turn to her as a friend to get away from the others, and I'm surprised he bought it. Couldn't stand Jackie, the Jappy NYer, or Michelle... Didn't like Ashley H. (cold). Edited January 12, 2011 by northern_sky
OceanGirl Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 N_sky haha I am surprised you are watching this! I just finished watching episode 2 (online). Interestingly, Brad seems to like women with whom dates are almost like therapy sessions. As for his emotional intelligence, I have to question him not only keeping Michelle, but also giving her the rose on the group date. She was blatantly causing drama, crying in front of him and sounded like she was totally drunk when she talked to him. That woman is probably the craziest of the bunch. I think that he is drawn to Emily's coldness...in their in interactions it seems like he is the more emotional one. I still don't think that Brad is particularly intelligent. He is not dumb but probably about average. Physically, he is not really my type even though I can tell that he is objectively very good looking. I am surprised that I kind of like his personality - there is something genuine about him.

Reminds me of being 10 and sneaking copies of Sweet Valley High under my covers with a flashlight so my mom wouldn't find out. Michelle made a big mistake by bringing on the crazy. She should know that most guys don't respond to drama. You also have to wonder if in some cases the producers convince him to keep a girl on longer who brings drama. I am completely ashamed to admit that I am watching this to my co-workers. Michelle is quite good looking though, reminds me of Angelina Jolie a bit
northern_sky Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) I am completely ashamed to admit that I am watching this to my co-workers. Michelle is quite good looking though, reminds me of Angelina Jolie a bit I dunno. She looks HARD and older than her years. She's quite pretty, but almost unpleasant to look at... She could play an evil stepmother. Emily is by far the prettiest, imo. Edited January 12, 2011 by northern_sky
northern_sky Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 (edited) Just finished episode 2. Glad the girls were dumped. I don't really understand why they all cry when they get rejected. If it's just about the rejection, I relate to that, but they act as if they're devastated that they didn't find love. Do they really expect to find true love on a reality show? Seems like the last place to look for it, especially if you consider the track record of these unions. As for Brad's intelligence, he's obv not brilliant, but he's fairly articulate. I'd say he's average or above average intelligence. I agree with you OG that he is objectively very handsome, but does nothing for me personally. I'm not so into the straight-laced All-American type. I usually go for guys who are cute in a more urban way. Also, his eyes are a tad small and I'm ALL about the eyes when it comes to a guy's face. Were any of the other bachelors especially hot? One of the non-drama girls that got rejected said: I have exhausted all the other avenues blah blah blah and this was my last resort. I am thinking WTF - she considers this her last resort??? Brad is too clean cut for my taste. I didn't watch all the seasons (really, I didn't ) but out of the ones I watched they seem to pick that same type of good looks for the bachelors. None of them really did anything for me.

That is probably because they're trying to appeal to the masses, so all the guys have to be sort of bland types. I just watched an interview with Jake, last year's bachelor. Seems like a tool. Ariadne Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 As for his emotional intelligence, I have to question him not only keeping Michelle, but also giving her the rose on the group date. She was blatantly causing drama, crying in front of him and sounded like she was totally drunk when she talked to him. That woman is probably the craziest of the bunch. I was so so glad that he gave her the rose! She was all freaking out in the date because it was her "30th" birthday and it was important to her...and nobody said Happy Birthday, I think maybe one girl, and it was completely inconsequential. So she started crying and feeling terrible and thank God he gave her the rose and made her feel special. (She was a little acting crazy when she got it but I guess she was so stressed) I think he is not a bad guy and I do think he has good judgment, starting by not picking girls the other season.
Author ecm Posted January 12, 2011 Author Posted January 12, 2011 I apologize for starting a thread that potentially got you non- Bachelor-watchers "hooked". Whoops... I was bored at last week's episode. They better drama this up soon!
Ariadne Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Did anyone see the Bachelor? Poor Michelle!!!! I can't believe she did that "for love". And they all think they have a "connection" and the guy is like some stone.
Ariadne Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Even in the jacuzzi, he wouldn't remove his hoodie or would sit in the corner with the legs and knees up on the seat so nobody could get near.
Nexus One Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 That whole show looks fake and scripted to me. I'm not sure if it is, but it just looks that way.

Nexus One Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Nah, the Bachelorette got married and they are living happily and have two children. They are the poster couple for the ultimate romance. That doesn't mean it was wasn't scripted. Cast two lovers who intend to marry and have kids and offer them a sum of money to participate. Script the rest around it. Sell show to networks. Ka-ching!

Nexus One Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Nah, money can't buy love. That wasn't what I was saying in my reply. But the majority of Bachelors don't last though. They could have gotten different contracts or simply broke up after the show. That still doesn't mean the show isn't scripted.
northern_sky Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) I don't like Chantal. I had a bad feeling about her before, but was waiting to reserve judgment until I saw more of her. She seems like a bitch. I think Brad is going to choose her, though... I doubt they'll last if he does. He seems to prefer the more bitchy, aggressive women (how else can you explain why he'd keep Michelle around forever). This makes me think he won't choose Emily ultimately. northern_sky Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I think he's going to choose her as well. But I like her straight-forwardness. I'll all about people who are straight-forward (that's how I am with people), but there's something almost abrasive about her. I can't really explain it; it's just this gut feeling.
Star Gazer Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 (edited) I think he's going to choose her as well. But I like her straight-forwardness. I do too. I can relate to her a lot. She's only kinda abrasive to and doesn't like one person: CRAZY Michelle Money, the hairdresser, whops, actress. And I think Michelle deserves it. I also disagree that he likes bitchy women. He tossed two of them last week. He just likes open, confident, independent women. Edited January 25, 2011 by Star Gazer

Ashely H. is bitchy too.
