Laksmi Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Hello, Here is the long and the short of it: I'm proposing on Friday night, taking him to a resort down south Saturday morning. I already have the time booked off for both of us. Friends may meet us at the airport and come with. I will have everything ready. Question is: How do I propose in a creative way where I also tell him we're leaving for holiday the next morning?! Thank you!

Author Laksmi Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 No. I love him. He'll love it, trust me.
Mrlonelyone Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Just speak from your heart. If your heart is true then whatever you say will work.
Author Laksmi Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 I think I can manage that part But how can I link together the proposal and giving him the airline tickets or telling him that we're leaving?
Mrlonelyone Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I think I can manage that part But how can I link together the proposal and giving him the airline tickets or telling him that we're leaving? There is a woman who has been in and out of my life... judging by your screen name of the same ethnic origin as yourself... who I would love to hear something like that from. A very old flame Yet alas she has a BF. sigh:o Anyway... Is he familiar with Urdu poetry in particular Ghazal? Say something like.. This Friday to fun and life lets fly away. (Show him the tickets) Into love and away from strife lets fly away. (by now you should be embracing) Marry me and forever together we can fly away. Or something like that. God I hope your not that person I mentioned... I would hate to think I just gave them a very romantic way to propose. You aren't from Chicago are you?
Author Laksmi Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 I've never been to Chicago. But what if it Was the person you were talking about? You had better tell her. Good luck (:
Mrlonelyone Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 (edited) I've never been to Chicago. But what if it Was the person you were talking about? You had better tell her. Good luck (: One step at a time.... I have to let her decide to drop that BF and be my GF first. lol. Us uh... 14th generation Americans don't just propose marriage like that. :-) Another way you could think about... proposing...might be to take him on the trip. Then, propose while your on holiday. I imagine such a resort would provide a somewhat romantic setting. Plus the dual shock of getting a surprise vacation, and a marriage proposal might not be good. Suppose he has other ideas for his weekend? idk? Edited January 3, 2011 by Mrlonelyone
SincereOnlineGuy Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Question is: How do I propose in a creative way where I also tell him we're leaving for holiday the next morning?! Thank you! "Hey, I want to share the long journey into the future with you... I want to be your bride... marry me!! ... and we can practice for that long journey with these (present tickets)... we leave tomorrow (I need an answer in a hurry {on both counts}!)" (that was just off the top of my head)... but something along those lines. And no, that is not intended as award-winning poetry, or any poetry at all for that matter.

Mrlonelyone Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I hope she comes back and lets us know what happened.
samsungxoxo Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I wouldn't propose unless we were on the same page and I knew for sure the man will say yes but is too shy to ask. Otherwise, if the topic of marriage was never brought up then I'm not going to waste money and take the risk of rejection.
Goldenspoon Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 I wouldn't propose unless we were on the same page and I knew for sure the man will say yes but is too shy to ask. Are we talking about adults here or junior high?
Lovelybird Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 if she never desires a man would propose to her, then more power to op! but if she does, she may regret it
samsungxoxo Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 (edited) Are we talking about adults here or junior high? You can't just suprise a man all of the sudden without knowing what his answer will be. They both have to be compatible on the subject of marriage. Some men just don't desire marriage, which is why proposing without prior discussions isn't a great idea. Now if I love the man, know he wants to get married and it's been discussed recently but he's shy would I propose? Yes I would..... If there hasn't been any discussion on this topic and I don't know his answer, then in this case I'll leave it to the man doing the proposing with an expiration date of course (if I love him, it will be a yes right away). Seeing as she said above he was going to love it, I'm thinking they're likely on the same page I'm always so surprised at the number of old-fashioned naysayers a LS...from somebody who is the antithesis of old-fashioned, Laksmi, I think what you're doing is awesome and empowering. I'd love to know how it goes!

allina Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I'm always so surprised at the number of old-fashioned naysayers a LS... I don't know what it is but when I read the OP I literally cringed and thought "oh no, don't do that!"
