Brokennnn Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 http://www.loveshack.org/forums/showthread.php?t=234989 So basically that is my first thread on here you can read what happened and why. Since then it's been about well almost 7 months and my ex is engaged preparing a wedding with a girl from a church. They are doing the whole courtship thing so they don't kiss, hug more then 2 seconds or anything like that, they can't see each other after 6 clock or spend time alone, things like that lol. Sounds a bit bizarre to me So yeah has anyone been in this kind of situation (by the way I am over him just not over the time I feel like I wasted and he is marrying someone he can't even hug more then 2 seconds)

In the previous thread you wrote: So exactly as the title says my boyfriend of 3 years ended our relationship 2 days ago because I am not Christian. He said he feels divided, he thinks that he can't do God's work if he is with me. He was told by his cousin who he goes to church with 2 years ago or more to end the relationship because it's what "God wants" and they had "dreams" that were telling them I am no good or something. God does not speak to these guys. That's just insane babble. Here's a quote I live by Brokennnn. "Science flies us to the moon, religion flies us into buildings." Let him stick with his "kind" then.. and forget about this brainwashed individual. Walk away, he - (and his cousin) - sound absolutely nuts. Edited January 3, 2011 by YellowShark
Author Brokennnn Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 I know it's unbelievably scary the things they believe like they have visions and God speaks to them I feel so lucky that I am out of that madness thank you
tatteredwings Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Well, I've never experienced anything quite like that, but I did have a relationship with someone who had very different religious priorities than myself. Intimacy was a problem. When we first started dating, she told me that because she is a devout Christian and comes from a Christian family, she would need time, to make sure the relationship is serious, before having sex with me -- first she said wait 6 months. After 6 months I asked her if she was ready, the answer was no, wait another 6 months. 6 months more I asked again, she said she needed another year. After a year I asked again, and she said that she was ready but needed to research it to become more knowledgeable (she was a virgin). That took another year. So finally after 3 years we had sex... and then she dumped me a year and a half later. But I think multi-faith relationships can work if both sides keep an open mind and are willing to compromise. Anyways in your situation, you're definitely way better off without him.

And any human who claims "god speaks to them" and they have "visions" should be committed to an insane asylum. Frankly people like this scare the crap out of me because they are so irrational and delusional. You are waaaaaaaaaaay better off without this kind of fundamentalist rhetoric and psychopathological nonsense Brokennnn. God speaks to them indeed.

That sounds just as mental as mine does lol, I mean same with my ex at some point he tried to stop sex and everything, and when we were breaking up he sort of put all that on to me as if I forced him into sex. I just think their relationship is like a contract kind of sad to be honest. He is willing to marry someone because she is believer or (brain washed) I mean a believer is not like their church is really sort of like a cult. So yeah he is willing to marry someone apparently because God told him so and this is Gods plan for them so they can have kids who will spread the word as well, then be with someone he actually is in love with! I cannot get my head around it. And thank you I agree I am lucky I got out of it when I did

I know I completely agree I mean I have nothing against peoples beliefs but when they try to convert you and tell you God has been telling them what to do it is scary! Thank you I believe I am too!
