I like jewelry. I have a long, thick, stainless steel chain that I wear just about anywhere. I have a relatively thin sterling silver chain that I wear to work. I have a 14k two tone gold chain that isn't very thick but is beautiful that I wear for special occasions, and I have a thick sterling silver figaro that I also wear for special occasions. I often wear it with the gold.

I also have an 18K ring that my dad gave me and a 14k two tone gold bracelet on order.

How much do women notice this stuff? Do I have too much? Is there such a thing as too much? I never wear more than 2 chains at a time, and the ring and bracelet are only going to be worn sometimes.

I notice jewelry on men only because I do not like men who wear too much of it. A simple ring, an elegant watch. A simple necklace, I would tolerate.

I do not like anything silver because to me, it looks cheap-unless they are for dining.

Yes, I notice in the same way that I notice what kind of clothes people wear. I don't know if you have too much, but there is such a thing (for women as well). To me it can be a red flag that too much identity is located externally rather than internally. But your description doesn't bring that up for me.

I see. Well the silver chain I wear for work doesn't look that amazing so I could see why people would think it was cheap (it kinda was, I got a super deal from a friend), but when done right, silver can be really awesome. The other fancy silver chain I have is really really really shiny and beautiful. It complements the gold one well. That said the gold one retails for 5x the price of the fancy silver one.

Ok gotcha. That's good to know. I really don't want to seem like I am going over the top, like Mr. T or Don King [though I am admittedly far from that (but seriously though, what are those guys thinking?)]

I think the yellow gold/white gold and silver combo works well.. they aren't huge either, only 20 and 22 inches, respectively.

Personally I'm not a fan of jewelry on men; but in general I'm not a fan of metrosexual men who primp and preen too much, and that's what jewelry implies to me. A watch is fine; I could probably tolerate a single ring or bracelet, or even a single necklace as long as it wasn't too flashy, but wearing multiple pieces of jewelery at the same time just doesn't seem very manly to me. I would be totally turned off if a guy was wearing two necklaces at the same time - I'm a woman and I don't even do that myself, because to me it screams "lower class".

Of course, different people have different opinions; some women hate jewelry on men and some love it; some women (like me) hate tattoos and some love them. It's all a matter of taste, so you should just do what makes you feel comfortable and there's bound to be someone who finds that attractive.

Not a fan of jewellery on men either and must admit that based on your description, I think you're wearing too much. But that's because I prefer to see only a watch and a ring - if it's a wedding ring and I gave it to him.

Some guys can get away with a necklace but I'm not a huge fan. Though dog tags for those in the military are okay.

Anything else is extraneous, in my opinion.

hmm ok so I'll probably only do one chain at a time. The ring is something I am not going to part with because it has sentimental value (my father passed away in August), and I do have a watch but it isn't very gaudy or anything.

ohh and FYI I am in the NYC area. I wouldn't say I am metro-sexual but I do like some nice stuff.

I personally do not like most types of jewelery on men. Since I don't wear much myself. A single ring , a nice watch - thats about it. I don't like when a guy wears chains or earrings. I am also not a fan of piercings that are on the exterior.

Yet dog tags and rosemary beads or anything along that line is fine.

Personally, I'm not a fan of necklaces on men either. But at least you're not wearing one of those blasted sea shell necklaces!!! SAVE THOSE FOR VACATION ON A REMOTE ISLAND WHERE NO ONE KNOWS YOU, PEOPLE!!;)

This Christmas I was given an amber necklace that has an insect in it from like 40 million years ago. I think it's very awesome but it's difficult to wear tastefully. It is capped with stainless steel in a way that does look a little cheap.

Like most things people wear, jewelry polarizes your audience, which is a good thing if you know what you want. I too live in New York and you can get away with this kind of **** here.

Ha.. why do some of you have something against chains?

What I wear is like this.

Shorter even. I need at least a 20 to get it around my neck (I have a huge neck and shoulders).

This is NOT what I am going for

^^^ Sorry, but that's a "no" to both for me.

Haha , I didn't think as much women had a problem as it proves here.

I just know I don't like how either of those pictures look.I also think jewelry is a waste of money and resources. Who are you helping with three 600 dollar chains around your neck? That is is just my opionion .

I will still date a guy who wears jewelry . I just don't really like it.

I gotta give a no as well, although we're talking about something very subjective here. The people that will like the chain you mention are the same people who would like to date Vin Diesel. If you're Vin Diesel then by all means cop that chain.

Watch, cufflinks and a wedding ring if married. Anything else is tacky in my opinion.

Ah, forgot about those. Nothing too flashy though. Professional, classy and understated is best, in my opinion.

I'm not Vin Diesel but I am a big dude. I'm actually built like Reggie Bush or Mike Tyson when he was in his prime.. (not trying to brag, just so you get an idea)

Only one of them was over 600. And I would never wear 3. I thought 2 was cool but based on this thread I will only do one at a time from now on.

And about the money, well, let's just say that I used to budget myself around a relatively high monthly car payment and now that it's paid off none of this stuff created a dent in my finances.

Still a "no."

Haha don't worry I don't wear lipstick or eyeliner (or whatever the hell he's wearing) and my hair isn't that full (though I kinda wish it was)

I don't think that chain is too much tho. It complements him well.

But... whatever floats your boat.
