Just a question... How long without contact would you consider somebody MIA?

What do you mean? Have you reached out without a response? Or are you waiting for them to initiate?

Just in general, the person I'm dating hasn't gone MIA... at least not yet. But just for the sake of discussion... say you left them a message on their phone and they haven't gotten back to you. How long would it have to go to be considered MIA?

Well if they normally get back to you right away then I would say after leaving a message and not hearing back from them like you normally do you might want to start questioning things.

Waiting for them to initiate? An indefinite amount of time then. Maybe their waiting for you to initiate and consider you the one who is MIA.

If you've reached out to them and a week goes by then consider them gone. BTW if a girl I was interested tried to contact me in any way, I would never wait for than a day or two to get back and that's just if I was busy. Otherwise I just pick up the phone and call or text back right away. I don't play games.

What does MIA mean? Dead or injured? Not interested?

If the latter, this discussion might help, it's very recent: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t258593/

This isn't just about first dates.. I mean say if you've been dating somebody for around a month and a half, does that change anything?

If you've been dating someone for over a month and they start to back off it's not a good sign. I'd talk face to face to the person and find out what their intentions are with you.

Problem is, IME with this type of situation the person backs off a little, so you give them a little space and back off. They back off some more you so you get a little frustrated and launch. Before you know it you're not even talking to the person anymore. It could have been a big misunderstanding between the two of you because you weren't communicating well enough.

I don't play the "backing off game" except for a few days to breathe a little fresh air which is normal for any relationship. You'd have to be more specific OP. This person might just be wanting time for themselves or is showing you out the door.

A week, but given the technology available these days, there really is no excuse other than "he's just not that into you."

I was just wondering hypothetically. I'm worried because I jumped the gun on something, and potentially ruined something that was going good. I'm preparing myself for the worst.
