Gold Pile Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 The women in my preferred dating age range (18 - 80) fall into 2 distinct groups....Group 1, those over the age of 35 represent the epitome of civilization, they've elevated cosmetics application and grooming to an advanced art form. They wouldn't be caught dead away from the support of modern civilization. Group 2, those under 35, foolishly think they're too young to go camping with a man my age. I have frequent access to a friend's wilderness cabin. Even alone, I love going there, but I haven't had a date join me in a few years. I miss hiking with a woman in tight jeans, I miss protecting her from animals I pretend to see, I miss shivering together next to the wood stove, most of all I miss doing things to keep warm in bed. Sometimes it makes me sad.
Surrealist Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Maybe a woman being approached by said man asking her for a date at a friend's wilderness cabin conjures up disturbing images not too dissimilar to those in the horror flick - Cabin Fever. Perhaps a less threatening place for a date may lend you more luck with your dating prospects.
vaxathrax Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I think it really depends on where you live. I lived in Alaska for a few years and skiing out to a cabin was the thing to do. In NYC to try to convince someone to leave the cement wasteland is a chore I'm no longer interested in. Instead I use the outdoors as my place to chill. Regardless of where you are I think maybe throwing a hike out as a date option is good, but expecting someone to want to go to a cabin with you is a little much early on.
Wink Tobasco Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 18 to 80 is quite the age range. Most likely women within 10 years of your age would be the best range. I agree it is harder to get mature women to rough it in the woods, thats why RVs were invented;). The remote cabin isn't 1st date material, but if billed as a romantic, rustic retreat for an established friend, it should have an appeal.
that girl Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I have a hard time imagining a woman who would be willing to go camping with a date- aka a guy she barely knows. It sounds like you want to date women who are much younger than you, but they're not interested in you because they too want a young hottie. And you write off the women who are closer to you in age. Because really, there are women over 35 who camp. I'm not so surprised that a guy who is pursues much younger women has trouble getting them to wander off into the woods with him.

johan Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 ...I miss shivering together next to the wood stove... You might enjoy that, but I imagine they would prefer you'd light a fire in the stove. Maybe this is part of the problem.
Author Gold Pile Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 You might enjoy that, but I imagine they would prefer you'd light a fire in the stove. Maybe this is part of the problem. thanks johan, I can always count on you for a laugh. To the others, I don't invite women to the cabin on the 1st date, But I do later on. I don't target only younger woman, I target all.
ConflictedGuy27 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) you need a change of venue. aim for a cabin in Lake Tahoe... your thread title may then shift closer to "which stick is better for batting away women, mahogany or oak??" Edited December 30, 2010 by ConflictedGuy27

anne1707 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Maybe you should display your Boy Scout badges more prominently - show them that you are up to the challenge
johan Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Maybe you should join a camping/hiking/nature club. Also, I would not have an overnight camping date with a guy unless we were an exclusive couple, and that would take a couple months. A couple months.. pssh.. I could have you begging me to take you camping in ten minutes.
