ConflictedGuy27 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 sheesh, you guys. this thread is depressing. I have yet to see the "why don't you go out by yourself" suggestion, so here goes: go out by yourselves for goodness sakes. you don't need a bff, your best buddies, an OKC date, or any of that. what's your favorite music? start looking around for parties and get out there. you'd be surprised who you meet out there. just go & have fun.
Star Gazer Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I am thinking of just staying home or spending it with my mum and dad. Why isn't this an option? NYE is about starting the year off on the right foot. Right now, your focus should be on your terminally ill father, don't you think?

AverageJoe Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 New Years is one of the best time to meet women. I am going out. To use a phrase you have probably heard before. When going out on New Years and meeting women who are out, they normally are out because they dont want to be alone. You dont want a crisis like that go to waste, because it allows you the opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.
Author OceanGirl Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 It's looking like I am going to spend NYE with my parents. I am going to their place tomorrow to bake cookies with mum. Perhaps it's better for me to take it easy after the high drama year I have had. I am now over the urge to find something to do last minute. I also got 2 messages from 2 brand new online dating guys. They both look promising. They both also said that they are not doing anything for NYE (and I am relieved they didn't ask me to meet up, it's too soon). So perhaps this is more common than I thought Looks like I will be multi-dating well into 2011!

Ariadne Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Happy New Year!!! Happy New Year Australia!
eerie_reverie Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 This will be the 3rd year in a row where I am spending it with a guy as the other woman.
eerie_reverie Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 If I were you... I would totally spend it with my parents. And I would try to be optimistic about. You are so lucky to have both your parents alive and to be close to them.
9Lives Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 Im going to the movies to see the little ****ers. Im not going to let myself feel bad. that is not how I want to start the new year. Make it fun. If you dont want to go to the movies, Go get some Champagne, and find someone or something to do to make it exciting. You have to try to make it fun or else it wont be. It is up to you right now!
colliejoanie Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 I'm spending it with my daughter, well she's already in bed. But, I had offers from two guys to do something....... really, I'd rather be by myself than with a guy I'm not interested in.... So, bottoms up!!!! Cheers! And here's to a wonderful 2011....the only way is up from here!!!
dispatch3d Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 You are being too insecure with your friends. I usually just assume it's cool that I show up and go from there. If they answer the phone they probably don't mind you going along. Even if you ask and they say no or act very dodgy who gives a ****?
lino Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 The last time I went NYE partying in Sydney CBD was 1984 to 85, yep that long ago! Had my AC / DC T-shirt on and got drunk on a medium sized bottle of whiskey and coke. Nice! Sounds like me 10 years ago You'd probably get stabbed, bashed or murdered going into the city alone on NYE nowadays. I was in Sydney last night and I don't think it's quite that bad yet. NYE is definitely trashier in Sydney CBD now than it was once before.
