craw Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I am going to S/Os parents for dinner [x2] I don't celebrate Xmas, am I expected to bring a gift?
lois_80 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Ask whoever's inviting you, probably couldn't hurt to bring a bottle of wine.
Stung Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I would bring something and consider it like a hostess gift. It doesn't have to be particularly holiday-oriented, champagne or chocolates are always welcome.
sb129 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I always take a bottle of wine if I am invited somewhere for dinner. In this instance I would probably take a nice bottle of wine (champagne is always festive) and some chocolates or some gifty type food package. You know the ones you can get where you get things like truffles/ fancy biscuits/ nice coffee beans or other gourmet type items in them? If you were coming to our house for Christmas dinner I wouldn't expect a "gift", but seeing as its an extra special meal to prepare I would prefer more than just a bottle of wine as a token of your appreciation.
