Pfiend101 Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 So long story short I met this girl through facebook. She is a friend of a friend. I asked for her # which she gave to me. We texted a little and I asked her out. She said "That sounds tempting but I'm not dating right now. if you wanna come party with me though thatd be cool. :)" The way it sounds to me is she just wants to be friends. But my brother said he thinks she means she just wants to hook up. Which would be cool with me. In girl talk what does that mean?
that girl Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 It could be either, but I'm thinking just friends. If she wanted to hook up, she would have given you a specific place not "hey, you can randomly show up."

We texted a little and I asked her out. She said "That sounds tempting but I'm not dating right now. if you wanna come party with me though thatd be cool. :)" ? Either. She clearly does not want a boyfriend. It's an odd comment actually. I would watch my step if you really like her, cause she may be playing games ....hard to say. If that were me, I would probably be more clear and say "hey i am not really in a place to date right now, but we could hang out as friends" etc. OR it could be that she wants a hookup....or just more male attention. The "temping" part actually makes me think she is seing someone else...if not openly than privately...cause tempting makes it sound almost like cheating or doing something not totally kosher...hmmmmmmm Sorry this was not helpful....lol good luck
sally4sara Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 It means she doesn't feel up to any of the courting game. She might be getting over someone or too busy to manage properly right now, but that you are interesting enough to hang out with. Not currently wanting to anyone doesn't mean you don't still enjoy socializing with people.
SmileFace Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 No it means she just wants you to buy her and her friends drinks. Duh, lol
Author Pfiend101 Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 Thanks for the responses. Honestly it doesn't matter to me either way. Just like everyone was kinda saying it could mean either thats why I started the thread. when I read that text I was like  My first reaction was to send her a text saying "I'm not looking for friends" Which is the truth. So we'll see. I may just ask her exactly what she means. So "Does that mean you want to hook up... or just be friends?" Direct I'm not into any kind of games.
Author Pfiend101 Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 Yeah screw it. I sent her asking a text what that means. Do you want to hook up or just be friends. If shes offended I dont care. Like I said I'm not gonna play games. I'm gonna be straight up and blunt.
Yamaha Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 My guess is she would be ok with friends. I would look for someone else to date.
Author Pfiend101 Posted December 20, 2010 Author Posted December 20, 2010 We'll see what her response is. Either way wont hurt my feelings. I'm not looking for any friends though so I will right her off if that is her response.
Author Pfiend101 Posted December 21, 2010 Author Posted December 21, 2010 Basically she never really explained what she meant and told me that I was very bold for asking if she meant "hooking up". She also claimed I was "slutty and trashy". haha The funny thing is is that I never asked her to hook up for one night. I simply wanted to know what she meant. She also deleted me off of facebook. Telling me she is looking for a bf not a one night stand. Funny. I have come to enjoy my single life. The search continues!
Madgick1 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 You dodged a bullet. She was playing games. She wanted male attention, and was flattered you asked her for a date and wanted you hanging around to provide it, but she had given you fair warning that she wasn't going to give anything back. When you asked for clarification, you called her game. Since she had no intention of ever giving anything back the hook up was an 'insult', and since she wanted a satellite not a friend, she couldn't say friend because then you might actually expect her to be friendly to you, and she wasn't going to give even that. Had she really liked you enough to be friends, she wouldn't have been insulted by the hook up portion of the question and would have just said, "Friends".
joeLove Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Brother, You have now been vaccinated ... Nothing a woman will say to you will ever get under your skin again ... That's one of the exercises in the player's manual ...:D:D and you passed it with flying colors ... On to the Next one ... biochemgrl Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 If she doesn't state what she wants- she's just going along for the ride. In this case, she'll change her mind with each drop in estrogen. I say what I want there's a mutual understanding, so no confusion. It's not ****ing rocket science, it's being a decent person.
