homebrew Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 (edited) WATCH THE MOVIE GRAN TORINO! You are the boy in the movie... So Clint Eastwood is speaking to you throughout it. Do EXACTLY as he says! Sports or your Ex cheating makes you no less of a man. You don't see yourself for who / what you really are, which is a man. Once you do that, you will be great. Note: Nothing external has to change... What it takes to be a man with confidence is all between your ears! Watch the movie and report back... Also, go to the book store and stroll through the self help isle... Tons and Tons of books that will help you out. Below is the way a MAN would think in your situation: 2010 sucked a55! So I am going to make 2011 my b1tch! Basically what that means is this... You are going to MAN UP, TAKE THE BULL BY THE HORNS and CHANGE YOUR SITUATION AND OUTCOME. You are the only one that truly can! Edited December 18, 2010 by homebrew

homebrew Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 The only part of the movie you need to focus on is what Clint Eastwood is telling / teaching the kid. How and what it takes to be a MAN! To have confidence in yourself... Self Help books are a must too! Don't leave that out!
Crusoe Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Does your heart condition stop you from doing all sports or just the very physical ones? I know plenty of fellas who had to quit their sport because of illness or injury. A lot of them move onto golf, snooker, pool or darts, and become successful in those areas. New interests, new friends. Also, just because you can no longer play, it doesn't mean you have to lose your friends. When I was your age I got bust up in a game of Rugby. It meant a year off sports but I still went to all the practise sessions and games, helped out the lads and coach in any way I could. You don't have to play to be part of the team. My guess would be you overthink everything because you have too much spare time on your hands. You need to get back to being your busy old self and become part of something again. It's good practical advice from Homebrew above. A young fella can learn a lot from some of the old silver screen legends. One of my favourite quotes comes from John Wayne. "Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday." New day, new life.
