Hello all; new here and thought I start with an interesting question that relates to my situation;

I have recently starting going out with this girl i met recently (approx 5 dates over the past 3 or 4 weeks) and now Christmas is coming so I was thinking of what I would get her and since we just met, I thought I would make a sort of basket of all the things she likes. For example she loves hot chocolate from this one place we visited on a date so I would get her a pack or box of that along with a couple of other things that we kind of shared as an inside joke.

My question is, is this the best idea or should I get her something more simplistic or nothing at all based on the shortness of our knowing each other?

Thanks;

A small gift that's personal and includes inside jokes is amazing. Your gift sounds great, but don't go too overboard with cost.

I had a guy give me a gift on our second date. He picked up a children's book at a library sale. It was called "Things I like" and at the end of the book, he wrote "I like you." I have never forgotten that gift. Loved it to death and we went on to have a wonderful LTR.

Awesome! Thanks for the feed back. Now just a matter of putting it together and finishing some other ideas for it.

I suppose she and I should talk regarding gift exchange or should I just give it to her when I think will be the last time I see her before Christmas?

Hi and welcome to LS. Your gift idea is cool. Try to find out what she really likes best in the way of chocolates and put most of the money into that. It's a measure of giving her what she values as opposed to what you may value or what "the script" calls for. A nice presentation could streamline the gift with some class as opposed to being "showy" too. Sweets for the sweet.

PS: I'm just thinking to myself about how many times I got a basket of crappola I'd never think to buy. Wow, summer sausage--just what I wanted. Not. Now if it were a small box of Godiva truffels or some really good chocolate covered pistachio marzipan I'd know the gift-giver did some research to find out my ultimate chocolate weaknesses.

Thanks Frisk,

She (like many women) really likes Johnny Depp. I am trying to find a nice cheap way to incorporate that in to the gift. Any ideas?

I think the gift basket of hot chocolate is a good idea. Just get her something she will actually want that doesn't cost a ton. That's just my suggestion. :)

To be honest though I spent $80 on my boyfriend's Valentine's Day present last year after dating him for about 2 weeks. I would'nt advise something that drastic though, lol.

Ok so we haven't yet really been hanging out at each others house yet. Aside from her picking me up or vice versa, we haven't really been to each others house. Where would be the ideal place for me giving her her Christmas present? In the car? At a coffee house? Do I ask her to come to my place or something? (We both still live with our parents)

Thanks
