If somebody you are arguing with injures themselves during the argument?

In my case a partner? I was half terrified, and half worried about them.

Are there instances when this kind of behavior could be turned on you?

A relationship partner? Did the person intentionally self-harm, or was it an accident?

As far as its possible effect upon you, and whether it could somehow be reflected back onto you, I would wonder whether whatever happened was a manifestation of some kind of mental instability. If so (e.g. self-harming to make a point, to gain emotional leverage, etc...) then I would definitely be worried that anything could happen, but I don't know if you could predict just what form that would take.

It happened in three different arguments in which the relationship partner drew blood. All of them seemed by accident but the fact it happened more than once, concerns me, as i did not touch the person and remained calm throughout the argument.

I am worried it is some kind of intense sympathy plea, and due to being a nice person, i do think i was so concerned about the injury that I forgot that the person won the argument and i was a pushover when i had genuine reasons to be annoyed/close to breaking up.
