I've noticed recently that the guys who use the word "cutie" to try to hit on me are usually creepy, sex hungry, sleazy guys. The last guy that called me cutie was the real prize...not. As soon as I gave him my number, he was asking me to send him naughty pics and then he sent a picture of his junk.

And then the really nice genuine guys I've met don't call me that at all and I usually have a wonderful time corresponding with them. Is it just the type of guy that uses that word?

It's terrible, maybe there are some nice guys out there who would call a girl "cutie"...but it just puts a really bad taste in my mouth. Am I crazy and should I just try to get over it?

I think it's an interesting theory, but it's probably unwise to use a single word as a way to categorize men. Cutie.

Cutie sounds kinda ghey. But I don't think every guy who uses the term is an automatic douche bag. Other things about him should give him away if he's a creepy get-over guy.

I've found in general that guys who are overly complimentary or use pet names right off are really sleazy and/or creepy. Those are red flags to me.

I'm totally with you on this one. I've mainly had this problem from men I've dated online. The last guy would call me Cute Thang! He also called me Gorgeous all the time, instead of using my real name. All of his texts and phone calls were the same "Hey, Gorgeous, when am I gonna see you again..." He was a sleazeball and actually I only saw him for one meet/date and he acted like a horny 16 year old and was salivating all over me to get a kiss.

After that we just exchanged texts and phone calls until he finally quit calling. It may sound weird to be irritated by someone calling me Gorgeous, but it was so insincere and fake, esp since our only encounter was a coffee date. Also he never called me by my name.

This guy was several years younger than me and it made me feel as if he was buttering me up to be a sugar momma.

Wow, I just realized the guy I just posted a thread about, "Does he just want sex?" called me cutie too ha!

An interesting thing about using generic pet names......

They can be used with any woman, recycled.

When we repeat a person's name often enough, it creates a neural link, a mnemonic series of memories.

Just some random thoughts.
