My long term girlfriend left me... Any chance she will come back?

So basically my girlfriend of a year and a half left me about 4 months ago. We were living together, and all of the sudden she broke up with me. I am in love with her and was completely blindsided.

 

Now she lives right accross the street. There are a lot of things that we have to work out financially with the apartment we were both living in (I still live there) so we talk occasionally. But for the most part we have no contact.

 

Yesterday was her birthday, and I couldn't resist the urge to send wish her a happy bday. She text me back seemingly all happy, and we talked for a while. Later that night she text me something again and I called her at that point because I was tired of texting.

 

She asked if she could come over and I said sure. She came over, we hung out, and she seemed sort of disinterested or distracted and kept looking at her phone. She ended up spending the night with me and we slept in the same bed.

 

Is this all false hope, or does this mean something? I really do still love her and don't want to miss an opportunity. At the same time I don't want to waste time chasing her As I've made progress

Why did she break up with you? That would help me and others to give our opinions. But without knowing that...I can only say I don't think she will come back. She lives right across the street you said, and so if she was interested you'd think she would be making more of an effort to see or call you, y'know? Also, you were the one who texted her and called her. She did aske to come over, but perhaps she was kind of lonely and since you were being friedly she decided to return to her old comfort zone- you.

 

If I knew more about the reasons behind your break up I could give you a better opinion. But even if her reasons for breaking up make it seem like there is a possibility...I wouldn't hope for it. I still want to believe there is a slight possibility my boyfriend will come back...but I know that in the end he hasn't yet so I'm not placing my hopes on it.
