My ex knows that I like his best mate but his mate doesn’t know that I still like my ex. I’m not sure how to tell him or what to do.

If you like breaking up friendships, this is a very good way to do it... There is an unwritten rule about dating an EX's best friend... However if you EX is fine with it, then I see no problem with it... First you need to know what you want..."an eagle that chases two hares will catch none"...before you can make any decisions...
