More to it than meets the eye maybe?

Hi this is my first post so I will get stright to it and let you guys know the situtation..

Me and a few friends where out one night, id been single for around 17 months, after a long term relationship which ended badly, I wasnt looking for anything and was pretty happy on my own.

My friend got talking to this girl and I noticed her friend was looking a little left out, so i thort i wont be ignorant and introduced myself, we began chatting and hit it off instantly, conversation flowing I asked if she was seeing anyone she told me she was and that she was in a long term relationship, I wasnt suprised so calmed the flirting down kept it friendly and enjoyed the rest of my night.

A few days later I decided to add her on facebook as a tester if you like to see if she got in contact with me..nothing tho.

I forgot about her and carried on with life, about 3/4 months later I noticed her relationship status on facebook had switched to single so I sent her an email, nothing weird, just a "hey how are you hows life" sort of thing, to my suprise she replied.

We began sending around several emails aday, exchanged numbers and before long started so see each other twice a week, we got on like we had known eachother for years, everything felt so natural nothing forced and for the first time in a long time I was having fun and felt a connection with a women.

soon enough my guard had slipped and i was developing feelings for this women, she told me she felt exactly the same and she had not felt like this in a long time.

days later I get a text saying that she had started talking to her ex again and that she felt there was still something between them, i instantly text back saying "no problem thanks for being honest take care" hours later she replys saying she had to tell me because she doesnt want to hurt me and that I had just came out of nowhere and she now has feelings for me and her heads a mess, the following day im round her house and everything seems exactly the same as it was, we started to fumble around and ended up having sex for the first time which i found odd after the text she sent me saying she had started talking to her ex.

A few days after this I get another text saying shes meeting her ex for dinner and feels they are going to give things another go, even tho we werent officially seeing each other it hurt a little as I was getting closer to her, but once again i took it on the chin deleted all her messages etc and left her to it, 3 days later my laptop gos off, its an email from her asking how I am what ive been upto and that she misses our "chats", I was in 2 minds weather to reply or not, in the end I did, but kept it short and sweet and explained that it would be easier if we didnt speak again, she then replys saying that she completely understands but doesnt want us to stop talking or cut off complete contact with each other?!

 

what is that all about? does she miss me? is she playing mind games? or is she just really confused? I find myself imagening a 100 different situations in which it could be and to be honest I didnt think it was possible to develop feelings for someone as quick as I have, so why am i so bothered?

Anyone whos been in a similar situation or has an outsiders opinion..thanks in advance. Jason
