Stockholm Syndrome is in essence when you are clearly the victim but you refuse to see yourself as one and instead identifies with the oppressor.

A gentleman is a slave who doesnt see himself as such.

They aren't victims or slaves. These men, gentlemen or not, always have the option to walk away from women that aren't good for them. No one is forcing them to do anything. It was their choice.

Was raised at birth to be a gentleman and respectful to woman. I love being a romantic and polite gentlemen to new dates, its just how I am. From opening the car door for her to shaking her hand the first time we go out, thats just how I am. The woman I want to date like or prefer men like that.

If a woman doesn't like, let alone respect my natural gentlemenness, screw her then.

Oh please, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Stockholm Syndrome is a psychological phenomenon that sometimes occurs to victims who are being oppressed and held under duress where there is a great danger/risk. The oppressor may not be immediately causing harm to the victim, allowing a bond to form. It'd be like if you were being held hostage under threat of death given some pending condition, but in the meantime, the oppressor was being nice to you and not causing you harm. This would allow you to identify with the oppressor if you're mistaking the lack of abuse as a positive act of kindness or mercy.

The fact that you're trying to link this to the issue of being a gentleman is just ridiculous. Gentlemen are not slaves. Gentlemen are kind because it's in their nature. You make it sound as if doing nice things for a woman makes you a slave. This says a lot about your view of "give and take" -- and it also explains why you find Leykis' view so appealing.

How can you listen to advice from a guy like Leykis who uses such horrifying arguments?

For the same reason most people choose to listen to those who offer them what they want to hear on a silver platter. Although in this case, I suspect the dunning-kruger effect is also a piece of the puzzle.

Oh yeah, Tom sounds like a prime example of a decent, caring, mature and otherwise gentlemen example of a man.

NOT!!!!

Tom is pretty much a jerk but who else is speaking up for my gender? Who else has out back?

Dunno about you, but I don't need a fat, sexist jerk to stand up for my maleness, thats up to me personally.

As a lifelong gentleman, I would have to agree that, in general, specifically wrt women, gentlemanly behavior has been a foolish choice. Even my exW didn't particularly care for it. Live and learn :)

I appreciate gentlemanly behavior, and I'm a woman, single, never married, no kids, and as one of my standards, I think women should be treated like that and with respect. Sad that a lot of negative aspects in the world can cause you guys to act the opposite.

Allies aren't people that drag you down into the mud with them.

More men would be gentlemen if women were as quick to get angry at the women that make us bitter but when it comes time for that all I hear is silence. Stop justifying the things that make men want to be pigs and you will see more gentlemenly behavior.

Same here. True gentlemen are quality human beings. They should be appreciated as such.

Pretty much. Even on this forum when I started to open up about my xGF cheating on me... the average female response what that it's "my fault".

D-Lish was pretty much the only female interested in adding something helpful and not hurtful.

That said... Tom Leykis is a wanker. I refuse to listen to a wife beater. Ever! Plus most of the stuff he says is just crap, and he doesn't really care about men's issues... only self promotion!

My wife, her and a few others on here is what keeps me from writing all women and what women don't realize is that if they do treat us well for the most part they can break the armor and get the gentleman to come out put if you feed us crap you should expect it back.

D-Lish is one of the few posters that doesn't automatically take the woman's side no matter what.

I think your assuming that I don't see that behavior. I do see it. I really like it. And I want to see more of it.

But do you also get angry at women who take advantage of that behavior and use it against us?

I don't get angry at random women. I can't tell women how to live their lives but I don't do that. Guys are ppl too.

Damn dude, you sound more bitter then a lemon

May I suggest getting out of that douchebaggery state called Jersey and move somewhere where the woman don't look like over tanned puffer lipped fish? I guarentee you'll have better luck with woman outside of Douchette Jersey

Until recently, due to societal and parental brainwashing, I had been the most gentlemanly/slavish guy on the planet. My idea of a good man was that a man who would do EVERYTHING for a woman so she wouldnt have to do ANYTHING.

But then I read a book which put sense into me and opened my eyes. I realize why should I do anything for a woman? Why shouldnt it be the other way around? I dont think Im any less than her.

For example when a man works his ass off in order to provide anything for his woman, he feels good because society teaches him to feel good when he provides for a woman. But who is the real benefactor in this? Obviously the woman, not the man. Its all manipulation.

I used to take pleasure in pulling chair, giving up seat, carrying heavy stuff, paying for dates, opening door, buying gifts and everything else for women until I realized that I took pleasure in behaving like a slave to women.

Never again I do anything for a woman just because she is a woman and society expects me to do it for her.

My principle is to do anything for anyone be it a woman or a man only if that person needs it. But I wont do anything for anyone just because Im expected to do it due to my gender or whatever.

Shockingly, with my new radically egalitarian view, a lot of women actually started to take more interest in me. This past two weeks alone two women asked me out. So obviously women do not like slave boys either despite what they say.

Now I understand that women like bad boys not because they treat them badly. But they are attracted to them because those guys respect and value themselves.

I am happily married but I stick up for my own when they are attacked.

Also I am a Jersey guy and proud of it.

Actually there is no evidence of him being abusive. It appears those charges were dropped. Unless you have some new evidence?

What? From what I have heard so far that is all the talks about.

I dont agree with everything he says, but he sure has been entertaining as hell.
