Has anyone out there dated a med student?

and if so, how did it go...? I've heard it's near impossible, at least a totally different ballgame which requires a lot of patience and understanding because of their insane schedules, constant studying, lack of sleep, etc. I met a woman who I really like at a party awhile ago, she is a 4th year med student. I'm wondering if I will be able to handle this and can tell already that there is a very limited time window when we are able to see each other (some of our first dates have already included studying, *lol*). She is so sweet, but I can see it may be a difficult road and wondering what to expect.

 

Any success stories or advice out there?

No, but I've dated a medical intern (1st year of residency), which may be worse in terms of time commitments. He worked 70+ hours a week and was still studying for various things. We never got serious because I require more attention for that, personally; probably depends on the dymanic between the two people.

Yeah, I've heard residency is worse. Any year in med school seems pretty stressful. Right now she does work about 70 hours a week at the hospital, constantly studying when she's not at the hospital, and just seems to be generally drained most days. I've heard it's not uncommon for med students in relationships to see their significant others once every 2 or 3 weeks for a brief time. I'm usually very independent and feel easily smothered when dating, but I'm not sure I have the very special patience it takes to date one. I'll find out!
