Only he would know for sure. We here can only guess.

So to understand you correctly, you still maintain contact (by email) with your ex......? Frequently? Occasionally?

So in the past, (as your ex) he'd sign his emails with JUST his name or "Live well"...but this last time, he signed it "love and live well" and you're wondering about the "love and" part of it?

Doesn't seem like him adding that would mean anything deep or that there's any underlying meaning there, negative or positive. Maybe he just decided to add that to it?

I dunno. Who knows why people do or write or say the things they do?

Are you hoping it means something positive, are you still interested in him or something?

well i am interested but i dont wanna read into it more than it is ya know i dont wanna look stupid yes we talk online sometimes not all the time no he never has written that before.the last time i chatted to him on the phone he kept asking if i was still in love with him i said no he asked me again i still stated no.and that was it..

As in, it's now up to you to decide whether or not you will go for this (shoot the ball) or let it go (pass the ball?).
