rose000 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I want my wedding to be outside somewhere. A small wedding, maybe 75 to 100 people(is that a lot?). Dont know about the reception. I'm talking like everything though including the dress and stuff. I want to start my wedding savings fund but I don't even know how much I should be trying to save. Thanks in advance!
aerogurl87 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 You can do a wedding on 10k (maybe 5k) if you want. It all depends on how creative your willing to be to get the price down.
devinemarko Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Start planning now. You need to plan for the church, reception, banquet service, must dress or fitted dresses and bridesmaids. The cake should be ordered. The flowers for the wedding, church reception.
goingstrong Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 13 yrs ago, 300 guests and standard everything..15k$
LittleTiger Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 75 to 100 people is a small wedding?! I had 18 people at my first wedding (including me and exH) and I'm hoping there will only be two of us at my second one! 100 people is huge in my book! According to google the average US wedding costs $20,000 and average number of guests is 150 to 200 - WOW, that's a lot of people! You guys like to do things big over there eh? You don't say when you're planning to get married but I'd start saving - fast!
AlektraClementine Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 We had ours outside with around 80 guests or so and we kept to our budget which was 5k. Things we did that helped keep costs in check: Mostly employed our friends. Since we are not religious, we asked a dear friend of ours to preside over the ceremony and paid for his ordainment. Had the wedding catered "southern style" by a friend who has a BBQ restaurant. *I got LOTS of compliments on the food* Had two friends of ours (husband and wife) sing for the ceremony. Photography was also done by a friend for $500. Dress was $200 from David's (online) - this was the toughest and most tedious process of all. Have patience! My brother-in-law runs a music venue and was able to help out with beer at cost for open bar. Wine was purchased from Trader Joe's. People don't really care about brands when the alcohol is free. We spent the most money on our location which was an old house on some gorgeous property and a tent. I decorated the tent myself with white lights and big white globe lanterns purchase all from ikea. We even had a friend's band play. The point is, use your friends! They're glad to help and it really makes everything a lot more personal. Good luck!
princedavis Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 It’s really going to depend on where you live/where you plan to get married. Also, you are NOT expected to pay for family members to attend your wedding, you will be paying for them to eat.
What_Next Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I could be mean and say that you should include the costs of the eventual divorce in the budget, but that would be too sarcastic... The cost of any wedding is highly dependent on the tastes of the people involved.
Lauriebell82 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I think it's going to depend on how fancy you want your wedding to be. Our's cost about $27 k including everything (limo, dress, food, drinks, ect). We had 135 people come to our wedding (there were 5 no-shows who we still had to pay for though). The average cost of a wedding at our venue is about $60 k. I am a bargain hunter and did lots of research to find great deals. You can have an absolutely beautiful wedding on a small budget. I'd say for what you want I'd at LEAST have $10 k saved up, maybe even a little more for unexpected costs.

This sounds beautiful and exactly what I would want.
