This seems like a very young forum. And yet there are us boomers here too. Are there many of us? Any one want to admit to being over 40 or more?

I'm 45! :)

(Which, I believe, puts me one year outside the 'boomer' category :D)

I'm not single or 'dating' though.

My LS 'home' is actually the LDR forum and the 'oldies' sections (marriage and divorce). I 'migrated' to the dating section because it gets a bit depressing over there sometimes and I thought this might be more fun.

Unfortunately, I find it gets a bit depressing on here too, with so much angst and so much bitterness - especially given the average age of people in this section of the forums - well, what I think is the average age. ;)

The lively debates on here can get interesting though and are worth sticking around for.

Baby boomers definition according to Wikipedia is

"Landon Jones, who coined the term "baby boomer" in his book Great Expectations: America and the Baby Boom Generation, defined the span of the baby-boom generation as extending from 1946 to 1964, when annual births declined below 4,000,000. They have since returned to higher levels in the "echo boom."

Therefore I've never considered myself a baby boomer, thank god.

I am 45..

Yeah I'm 40 going on 20, may as well be. :o There are a few peeps here in addition to the above who are in their 40s and 50s.

I'm not :D

U spring chicken u. :p

I am 35 and meant to be dating. Not working for me. Wont give up though.

I'm 40 and single. However I only look about 30.

I look reasonably young too. I have found it to be a bit of a curse though. I get approached by men who look my 'age' but turn out to be 5 to 10 years younger.....sad

LT you're 45? I always love your posts.

Thanks p4percut and yes, in LS terms, I'm an 'oldie' - but with age comes wisdom. ;)

I'm 50 and happily unattached. No interest in becoming younger again. I worked way too hard just to get here.:D

I'll be 39 in Jan. so not quite but i think I can relate.

I've been lifting hard & working out & seem to draw the attention of women in their early 20's & I don't know why.

I'm usually buming around in old clothes when I do so it's not like I look well off or anything. I've had 2 women that are barely drinking age ask me if I had a wife or GF.

It surprised me so much I asked them if they had any idea how old I was. LOL!

I'm looking for women my own age. I got kids. I can't party with the youngins.

But now i'm wondering if I should just go with it & say what the hell.

48 and NOT a Boomer.

Personally, I think it would be helpful to have our ages in our profiles; it's much more relevant that things like geographic location. It would be helpful when responding to posts if I should put on my "Dad" hat or my "friend" hat. The advice I give to a 20 year old is often different than I'd give to a 40 year old.

I'm 40. My mother is a boomer. I'm Generation X.

BTW: Are there any 40+ people (or even 30+ people) who admit to looking their age? I find it kind of amusing that so many people posting here always add the disclaimer "but i don't look my age!"

Eleven years, six months past 40. Yes, I look my age.

42. Parts of me are 90, others are still 18. Divorced, single, and dating is still almost as confusing as it was when i was 22.:D

I agree age AND COUNTRY at least.

As a parent I'd be livid if my kids would be on here getting advice from strangers b4 coming to me lol

I definitely look my age or older lol, gray hair.

Those that say they look younger could just be women, women in denial, or "metro sexualsl".

I prefer to think of myself as "Metro-sexy"!

Well, I am 35, and I don't know if I look my age or not. I think in some ways I really do look younger, as I drink a lot of water and have never been into tanning, and I have never 'let myself go'. I have had to dye my gray hair since I was 21, though, I've put on an overall inch of insulation since having my son and sometimes I feel like I have the joints of a woman twice my age. I am realistic enough to know that although the majority of people claim they thought I was in my late 20s, the majority of them are probably cutting down on that a little bit to flatter me, and that although I still get carded at bars it's highly unlikely that anyone with all their faculties is actually mistaking me for a 20-year-old.

But then, I don't think there's anything wrong with looking like a well-put-together 35-year-old, so I'm not too fussed about it.

I let my hair go completely natural when I was pregnant with my son, and I was disappointed to see that while I do have a lot of gray, I still have a long way to go before I'm a real silver fox. My aunt was totally white by the time she was 35, so was my dad, and I think the contrast with a young face is actually very attractive. I plan to go natural again at forty and see if I'm there yet but in the meantime I'm back to coloring during my awkward in-between years .

I have a theory about this 'looking younger than your age' thing. I think those of us who have looked after ourselves actually look the way we should look for our age - not younger.

I look at some women my age who have put on a load of weight, or maybe are even physically still in shape but dress older or act older or even just think older and I don't see these women as being 'my age'.

One of my favourite things is hiking in the mountains. I'll be out all day at weekends and spend a two week holiday tramping through the snow in the Alps. Yet I remember, just recently, an overweight, very 'middle-aged' looking woman saying to me - "oh I'm passed all that, I'm nearly 50"!!! I was horrified.

So, IMO, if you look young for age, you probably don't - you probably look exactly as you should.......it's the rest of the population that looks old! ;)

There are genetic factors as well. Most of my grandparents lived to be almost 100 years old. I'm usually pegged at about 5 years younger than my age. Attitude is huge too. Too much exposure to UV from sunlight will prematurely age the skin. One girl I knew was only 34 but lived in Hawaii for years and soaked up a lot of sun. Her face looked 45 but her body was 34.
