So after taking a six month hiatus from women, which I went in detail on in http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t232987/, I finally decided to get myself back into the game.

I have been messaging back and forth with a woman for the last couple of weeks on OKCupid, and I finally ended up getting her number today. To be honest, I'm excited. Not nervous in the least. I'm going to call her in the middle of the day tomorrow to try and set up a date sometime next week. She's vegan, so a dinner date is probably not a good idea, so I'll start off seeing if she wants to go get coffee somewhere. I know a few wonderful coffee shops around the local college that have great atmospheres, and if she's willing, they are near a few hookah bars that I frequent that are great places to relax and have a good conversation while smoking the shisha. Sound like a decent first date? Any ideas?

All in all, I think we will get along great, and she seems to be exactly the kind of woman that I enjoy. Intelligent, confident, opinionated, and a sexy, feisty feminist

Wish me luck!

So I ended up having my first date with her on Friday. We ended up going to a restaurant, and I must say, I am very impressed. She is very smart, very assertive, very feminist (we went dutch), and damn sexy. The server had to come to our table five seperate times before we decided to get our checks after we had finished eating. We couldn't stop talking.

Then we walked to a nearby coffee shop, and once again, we ended up staying there for about 45 minutes, until they had to kick us out since they were closing.

Then we went to a nearby bar for a while, and we had a great time there as well. I've never been able to converse with someone as openly and easily as with her before. And usually I fall into the trap of trying to play therapist and wanting to help a girl with all her problems and tell her everything will be alright. Not so with her. It was wonderful.

I called her and set up another date with her next week. Things are looking good so far, I think.

Women like that exist!? Rare. I'm just kidding.

Quite impressive to see a man hold a conversation; most only have one liners. It's like squeezing orange juice out of an orange. Good for you.

Best of luck to you on your second date. :)

I think she was surprised as well. I got this feeling that dating had become a drag to her instead of something fun to do. She is quite cynical. But it seems like she really enjoyed herself, and that surprised her, I think.

Ugh. She just cancelled our date tomorrow through text message. She said that her mothers cat just had a stroke, and that she was going to have to console her mom for a couple of days while they saw things through.

I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt, since I know pets are a big deal to her and her family. I mean, she is vegan for animal rights reasons.

But in the back of my mind I can't help but think this is just her trying to find any excuse to get out of our date...
