Hi Everyone,

I am a senior in college and in a particular class with a professor I have taken twice before. He is older than I am and unmarried. I have excelled in all of his classes and he often compliments me on my writing abilities and my overall performance in his classes. Two years ago he even landed me a job where he works full time which went well for a little bit but I had to quit because of conflicts with my other job. In the in-between time when I wasn't taking any of his classes, and didn't think I would ever need to again, he asked me to call him by his first name and we would talk extensively whenever we would see each other around campus. Now that I am in his class again, we still talk a great deal after class (he frequently asks me to stay just to tell me something he heard or something interesting not pertaining to class) and then walk to our cars together. One day he told me that one of his coworkers asked him to tell me that I was "absolutely beautiful." I don't recall ever meeting this coworker even during my time there, and I wondered why he would agree to tell me something like that because it proved to be very awkward. A few weeks ago he told me that I have a certain effect on people, including himself. However, for the past week or so he has been avoiding me and not talking to me at all, even avoiding eye contact during class. I don't know what, if anything, this means. Is he interested but afraid?

Thanks!

Yes, he seems very into you, but fear for his job doesn't allow him to be open about it.

If you like him, you should probably read up on the rules your university has regarding prof-student relationships.
