East7 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Even the affairs inspire the artists : Oddly most of the time it is MW and single guy, while in reality I see (On LS) 90% are single women with MM. Please feel free to complete : (I don't have many examples in mind right now) Music : - Me and Mrs.Jones (Jazz, various artists, my favorite) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qfr6jmJOGA8 Literature : - Madame Bovary Movies : - Unfaithful (Richard Gere, Diane Lane) - The Notebook (technically 2 days affair while Ally was engaged)

woinlove Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 Movies: "Falling in Love" (Meryl Streep) "The Kids are All Right" (Juliane Moore) more MW, but Meryl Streep's character fell in love with a MM.
crazy love Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 and don't forget the classic affair sound track..."Secret Lovers" This one rings a little more true to the reality IMO

halemeno Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Tomas's self-centeredness and the way in which he uses people really reminds me of my MM.
BB07 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Another, much more acoustically pleasing song is by Til Tuesday which I suspect is about infidelity (lyrics). I had forgot about that song......good one! Although I always had the impression that it was not about infidelity, in fact the video is leading in that it is an abusive relationship but then again people's interpretation is different.
pureinheart Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Music "Saving all my love for you", (I think that's the title) Whitney Houston
desertIslandCactus Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I go all the way back to the soaps on the radio: 'Pepper Youngs Family', etc.. The soap operas and movies from the very beginning did indeed help to contribute to the deterioration of society .. ha
BB07 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) I know... video ruining my interpretation But we can pretend it's about infidelity. Now is without a doubt about cheatin' hearts. No doubt about that one! A fitting song for the OW getting out is by the same group. Edited November 22, 2010 by BB07
Fieldsofgold Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Movies: East of Eden, Dr. Zhivago, The Way We Were Book: The Prime of Ms. Jean Brodie. Songs: Your Cheating Heart - Hank Williams Sr. She's Got You - or most any other song by Patsy Cline I heard It Through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye Cryin' Time - Ray Charles Chain of Fools - Aretha Franklin not that I actually remember any of these - I just like the classics
Author East7 Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) Music (again) : Meldoy Gardot - Baby I'm a fool (love affair) - w-o-n derful ! Andrea Bocelli - Les feuilles mortes (Autumn Leaves) old french song / nostalgia of an ended affair. The lyrics are very nice too. Soul music : Joe - If I was your man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kL9vfwJR8MY Avant - Lie about us. Movies: East of Eden, Dr. Zhivago, ..... Omg, how could I forget, I love Dr. Zhivago (book and movie), I think one of the greatest classics. Edited November 22, 2010 by East7
denise_xo Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Andrea Bocelli - Les feuilles mortes (Autumn Leaves) old french song / nostalgia of an ended affair. The lyrics are very nice too. Last time I was in heart break, I played that song over and over - but I prefer the Edith Piaf version [you can always count on her for drama ]
OWoman Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Then, of course, there's the Nina Simone song "The Other Woman" - which pretty much plays into the BS stereotype of the OW.
harmfulsweetz Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Movie-Titanic. Notebook My best friend's wedding-slight undertones. Song-Rihanna-Unfaithful.
quankanne Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 an old, old movie I first saw as a kid because Alan Alda was in it (also had Ellen Berstyn as OW): Same Time Next Year. Fascinated me because the affair spanned a couple of decades since they only met one weekend a year, when she was allegedly on a spiritual retreat!
Author East7 Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 Last time I was in heart break, I played that song over and over - but I prefer the Edith Piaf version [you can always count on her for drama ] I know I live in Paris Movie-Titanic. Notebook My best friend's wedding-slight undertones. Song-Rihanna-Unfaithful. Titanic ? Were they engaged ? I thought it was just a wish of the woman's family. Its funny how in movies the affairs are always "soft", usually before marriage (The Notebook) and no children involved. I think the most explicit and realistic is "Unfaithful" (Richard Gere as BS and Diane Lane as MW), there is the thrill and lies, how she gets caught etc. Fortunately not all the BS kill the OM
secretlady76 Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Movie: Brokeback Mountain. Ok, so it's not the typical man/woman affair, but it is still about two people (two men), who have an EA, a PA, fall in love, get married (to different people) but still embark on the affair behind their wives backs. All ends in tears but I personally think it is a very good portrayal.
4321sn Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 I just saw Ira & Abby om netflix. Great independant film
Fieldsofgold Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Omg, how could I forget, I love Dr. Zhivago (book and movie), I think one of the greatest classics. I hated Dr. Zhivago! I was married to abusive cheating H at that time, and he looked exactly like him!!! Still, a great book and movie

They feature funny tv ads; they do one of Brokeback Mountain involving sheep. It's in French. If you can find it, you will laugh til you cry! Sorry I can't post a link for it.
