I really like this girl but she's with someone right now. Even then, I can seriously see them splitting up soon (they haven't been together long, he asked her out the first time he saw her in like a year, they've been friends for years before getting together, he's big into sex, she isn't etc)

my cousin said that like holidays and stuff like that can either make them stronger or break them. With Thanksgiving and like a month off for Christmas coming up, is he right?

Yes holidays can do weird things to relationships, or otherwise have an adverse effect because normal routine is suddenly broken, couples are spending far more time together in situations that differ from the normal day-to-day life. I noticed it in my marriage.

All my breakups, trial separations and hugest fights ever happened during holidays. Christmas and Easter being the big killers.

Craptastic. I'm in my first relationship ever and these holidays are approaching. To make matters worse I'm going away for a month to Europe

You want someone knowing full well she isn't into sex? :p

Because I like her for other reasons enough that I can put up with waiting

So... If they break up any time soon, it'll likely be around now?

Statistically if you are in a poor relationship you will break up between October to Christmas time.

For your own sanity, maybe you should just accept that she is in a relationship, and move on?

I would but there's just way too many things present that I've seen break others up

I always notice people breaking up around Valentines day, but thats just me. Yes, I've seen couples break up because of being apart for breaks and holidays, but I've also seen the opposite. My boyfriend left for summer break for three months after we had only been together for two months. I only got to see him once for about three days during the whole break. Once school started back up things were a little weird at first, but we've made a full recovery. I wouldn't count on a month long Christmas break being the thing to break them up if I were you.
