Penny91 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 What do you think about non-virgins wearing white wedding dresses? I can understand but what if it is known mt many people in the churchor community. Is the white dress really a sigh of purity?
LucreziaBorgia Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 The 'white dress only for virgins' mindset is archaic. Brides can wear whatever they want these days.
desertIslandCactus Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 The white wedding dress also stands for purity .. I would think that most brides are no longer virgins. But in leaping from one marriage to another, one would think the styling of the dress should at least be toned down..
Floridaman Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) My wife wore white on our wedding day. I suppose many of her family and friends knew she wasn't a virgin but we didn't "advertise" that we were intimate. I loved her so much and didn't care if she wanted to wear white. While I wasn't a virgin, and she had only one partner prior to me, I didn't expect her to be innocent at her age (mid-30s). While I had very limited sexual experiences, I told her I never felt I really ML to anyone in the fullest sense: emotions and body - until I met her. She was as good as a virgin in my eyes. I was just glad she wanted to marry me. While we were engaged or earlier, she once told me her prev. fiance whom she gave herself to sesxually after they got engaged, wasn't nearly as passionate with her as I was:love: -. Gals- guys love to hear that, esp. if sincere. Neither of us were promiscuous- we didn't "sleep around.." and we were in our 30s when we first met. Edited November 15, 2010 by Floridaman
taiko Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Theb white dress was not a religious based custom. It evolved from a bride wearing her best dress to the ultra rich wearing white to prove the were able to afford the satff to keep it clean
In The Green Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Yeah the white dress is a fairly recent custom, it started with Queen Victoria choosing to wear white. Diamond engagement rings are also a very recent trend. I dislike the slicked buns and poofy, white, princess wedding dresses. I worked in a wedding photography studio a couple of years ago and everyone looked like a clone.
Linda9999 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I wore white when I got married the second time. I like white
mystical.one Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 This is my first marriage, I got married at 29. I didn't wear white. I wore orange and ivory. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b185/pinkieregan/Wedding/Entrance.jpg
2sure Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I wore white all 3 times because it looks great on me

Or was it just a Renaissance wedding?
Disillusioned Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 In some Asian cultures (India, China, Vietnam), white is a symbol of death. But it goes both ways... Chinese brides traditionally wear red gowns, something few American brides would ever dare to do. Provided, of course, you can still find any Americans who still believe in marriage (smirk, smirk).
