I read about these stages of grief when I was in stage 4, and felt like I was reading about myself...I had been through them in their exact order and could even pinpoint the day one stage ended and the next began. I was in stage 4 for four years (hmmmm), if that's a comfort to those who feel they have been there for too long. Stage 4 may take a long time, but the important thing is that there is improvement, the sadness diminishes over the years, the feelings get less intense, you feel less bad at every meeting (we're in a common group, couldn't be avoided), memories that places hold for you become overwritten with other memories, etc etc. Finally, I am in stage 5, happy about my world, and no longer burdened by thoughts and feelings for him. (It's boring here, though :) )
