We both have had experiences with other races alike and different in our pasts. From what I've read, of course there are mixed emotions of the subject. He and I met at work for a reputable Southwestern PA company. We started talking...as work friends. We were both beating around the bush for awhile before we realized that race would not be an issue with the other. He and I exchanged numbers and began speaking outside of work. All the while, getting stares and second glances at work and everywhere we went and still go. I really was not opposed to dating outside of my race, but I regret not giving other races a chance. We've been together about a year at this point, and race has never been an issue between he and I. Our families and friends have met eachother, and still no issues (that I am aware of). At first, his race was always something that I thought of all of the time (the fact that I am with a white man.) Now I just see him, and not what color he is. If he were any other race, I would still care for him. As far as the subject of black men... I have dated them. The experiences that I've had with black men, in serious relationships, were not ideal. Not to say that all black men are bad in relationships, but the past 3 I've been in the men were black. I was cheated on, not satisfied with lifestyle choices, baggage, they were broke, etc. Maybe I was in the wrong places at the wrong times, but I have had bad experiences with the majority of men that I have been involved with. I did date an Arab man for a few months, but that did not work out at all either. I've read quite a few points of view on the subject. For example, being afraid of what other people think, assuming the other will not give you a chance because of your race, etc. The point of this thread is to encourage others not to limit themselves.
