I ask this because I'm 5'10 and 114lbs, I'm very skinny, No, there's nothing wrong with me, it's just the way I am. My father is the same (though he's a mechanic so is bigger due to lifting heavy things around all day) and so is my grandmother, it's entirely genetic and I'm perfectly healthy.

Would you have a problem dating a guy smaller than you? Some girls just seem to want big muscular men.

I've done ok with girls but I do wonder if my size is setting me back.

Thanks for any input, be honest please :)

It all depends on the woman. I'm 165 pounds at 6'1"-6'2"(not sure if I grew since the last time I was measured) and I've never had a problem. You can always work out and put on muscle.

Posted

I'm rather thin also and have been concerned about it from time to time.

Yes, it would be better to be build like a truck but overall I've dated some pretty nice looking girls.

I'm sure some girls don't mind it just like some guys like skinny girls and some guys like chubby girls. It's all a matter of taste.

The good news is; from what I understand, girls are much quicker to get over looks then guys are. So just work on your savvy and you'll be just fine.

Posted

No, likely not. But I'm pretty thin and rarely see someone thinner----you aren't lighter, but since you're taller, you would be thinner. I've dated pretty thin guys -- and don't like muscle men in general -- but lighter than me? I have trouble imagining it.

Posted

Yes, in fact your measurements are similar to my ex.

Posted

I'm 5'7" and a good 20 lbs. heavier than you, and I like skinny guys. I wouldn't have any problem with a build like yours. Also, like nice-easy-day said, it's all a matter of taste. If you've done okay with girls so far then don't worry about it.

If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? The younger you are, the less likely you're going to have a problem since the younger ladies are used to men who are thinner. It also depends on what kind of frame you have. If you have naturally broader shoulders, having a more triangular shape, your weight won't matter. Age will naturally layer your body with more weight.

Most women don't want to feel like they "look" like a hulking brute beside their man.

My shoulders are very broad. They were measured at 40" all the way around. I have a V shaped body though. My dad is built in a similar way. He didn't reach 200 pounds until he was 50(he's 6'3").

I'm 24. My shoulders are fairly broad, I just have *very* thin arms and legs. My ex loved my chest and stomach. I also have big hands. She (who was a bit heavier than me and 5'4) had tiny tiny hands in comparison.

Looking and my father/grandmother I really doubt I'll put on much weight as I age. My father is also 5'10 but 130lbs and he's 55 years old and is constantly lifting things due to his job. I work in an office.

Then you shouldn't have any problems with attracting the ladies, as it relates to being thin.

tk, most of the men in my family are tall and quite thin, but with broader shoulders. None had any problems with the ladies. Even now, my grandfather who's in his late 80's, is 6' weighing around mid 130's. The rest are a bit heavier than that but not by any substantial amount.

I really wouldn't worry about it, as long as you don't make your dates feel like hulking brutes.

I am attracted to guys with more padding than that, but I've dated guys who were thin . . . it wasn't an issue.

No. Just don't find it attractive in a man.

I'm 5'9 and 110 - 115 lbs and I am pretty thin even for a girl. I don't think I would be attractedd to a guy who was even skinnier.

No. Probably not -and I'm being honest here.

There are quite a few women out there who do, but few and far in-between.

You should try to put on some weight; build some muscle. It's a good way to attract the women, and keep in shape.

Consider yourself lucky. At least you're not a short guy, or have abnormal looking hands. These physical traits you can't change.

Thanks :) Honesty is what I wanted. No good being lied to by strangers over the internet :p

I do need to start working out properly, I already know eating doesn't help. My ex used to hate me. I ate loads of unhealthy food all the time and never gained a pound while she really had to try to stay in shape.

Have you considered tracking your calories and activity to make sure that's true? I'd also wonder if you've had a health check up recently. I'm saying there's something wrong with you, but if you've done things to gain weight and not gained, it could be a symptom of a problem.

There's nothing wrong with him; he's an ECTOMORPH

The extreme ectomorph physique is a fragile and delicate one. The bones are light, joints are small and muscles are slight. The limbs are relatively long in proportion and the shoulders droop. The ectomorph is a linear physique. Straight up and straight down, and may appear longer than he or she really is, due to the length of limbs coupled with lack of muscle mass developed on those limbs. The ectomorph is not naturally powerful and will have to work hard for every ounce of muscle and every bit of strength he or she can gain.

Other Ectomorph Traits

The extreme ectomorph may have long fingers, toes and neck are long. A pencil neck you could say. The features of the face are sharp, and the shape of the face is triangular. The lower jaw is somewhat receding. The skin tends to burn easily. Extreme ectomorphs may suffer from extremes of temperature. Due to the great body area in relation to muscle mass, the ectomorph may suffer from great heat, and due to low body fat, the ectomorph may suffer from great cold. The hair is fine and grows quickly and is sometimes difficult to keep in place.

A friend of mine is 6'4''' and 140 pounds. He's very healthy, works out, but can't gain enough mass. Ectos take a lot of time to gain any weight and they usually suffer a loss of it if they don't continue with their gruesome diet and workout.

Maybe you're right. Perhaps seeing a doctor just to be safe would be a good idea.

However, I do walk 1.5 miles to work and back each day so it's not like I don't burn a few calories also. Though, since as child I have always been skinny as have my family (apart from my mum, who'd i'd describe as "average build") so I always thought it was just genetic.

Something I should add is that hyper-thyroids also run on the male side of my family but not consistently. But post treatment, they still haven't gained much weight, preferring to stay in shape.

it probably is genetic, and there probably isn't anything wrong with you . . . I just think its probably safer to make sure. Doc might also help you build a diet, exercise plan to gain healthy weight if you need to.

I'm an ectomorph as well, though not to that extent. I'm not an extreme case. I do have extremely long limbs. I can touch my 8 foot ceiling flatfooted and the length of my legs are the equivalent of someone 6'4"-6'5".

Godamn im 5'8 165 and pretty skinny

Bone structure needs to be taken into consideration, but I find it hard to believe you're that skinny weighing 165 pounds at 5'8". I'm your weight at about 6 inches taller and I'm thin, but not rail thin.

Meet up with the doctor to check for possible Marfan's syndrome.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marfan%27s_syndrome

I know someone with that, he's in his 60s and has had multiple surgeries including a kidney transplant and aortic repairs. He follows a special diet and has to be very careful of physical exertion.

Marfan's is a genetic disorder that results in connective tissues that aren't as elastic as they should be. Heart, vessels and organs all suffer as a result.
